    It would be very interesting if you could try this 3 times with plates #2&3 using heavily diluted spore solutions. Maybe 20:1 and 100:1

    Garry have you looked up at studies that show double the yields by the help of electric pulsation and even increase of 0.25 times with help of thunderstorm music, I know it sounds wicked but idk.

    Awesome stuff Gary! I have a spore syringe that I have tried to germinate on agar but had a lot of bacterial contamination. I will try to use this technique. Would you reccomend trying that on water agar or doing that on MEA agar dishes? I havent done any work with just plain water agar. I am just a beginner.

  • @FreshfromtheFarmFungi

    @FreshfromtheFarmFungi

    try both - if you can get a clean plate on MEA it will grow stronger but water agar will be more selective for mushroom mycelium

  • @zachsabe
    @zachsabe2 жыл бұрын

    So Garry, thank you. I am wondering if when you isolate phenotypes on the agar if you have any idea of what the trait will look like? Or is it pure isolation and then finding out down the road what the trait expression looks like after the fruit has grown? Seems like a lot of luck per se and patience lol

    yes you can only go off of features of the mycelium - watch this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/npmJ0sisn9G8qMY.html

    When I try streaking on plates I get a white substance which is not mould or mycelium, it looks shiny and wet. Even get this from different vendors. Maybe it’s my agar? I buy pre made plates but might need to change that vendor also.

    it’s probably bacteria or yeast, try diluting the spores in sterile water until you separate out the colonies

    @@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Ok I will try this, I am struggling with this hobby at times but I have had some success with other strains. When you say dilute the spores in sterile water to separate the colonies, would it be best to do this on an empty Petri dish and what method would you use to do this?

    Why don't you think they'll combine together? Doesn't it have a better chance of combining together due to the fact that their both oysters? Wouldn't it be more difficult combining two separate species?

    @@FreshfromtheFarmFungi ok. I'm excited about this. Forgive me for my forgetfulness but isn't your rose bud oyster a hybrid? Were they from the same area?

  • @FreshfromtheFarmFungi

    @@codyprice6188 rose bud oyster is a phenotype of our pink oyster strain - it is Pleurotus species yes but it is it's own species (Pleurotus djamor) and native to Florida and tropical regions. It was procured by mixing two pink oysters together. This proposed hybrid would be Pleurotus eryngii and Pleurotus citrinopileatus which is a bit further of a stretch 👍
