Always learn something while watching your videos. My biggest challenge is trying to stick to 1500 calories per day and still keeping the proper percentages of the macronutrients. It’s animal protein, nuts and seeds that usually gets reduced because of their higher calorie count. While I initially shifted to Mediterranean because I wanted to lose weight (30 pounds is my goal and I’ve lost 23 pounds in 4 months…in large part thanks to your videos)and it has now become a lifestyle that I’m loving. And will love even more when I increase my daily calorie count. As it relates to this video, fish and chicken are in at least one meal per day, five out of seven days, but my opportunity is to add more protein and reduce some of the carbs. Anyway, thanks for the tips and keep them coming.

I’ve been on the Mediterranean lifestyle of eating for 7 months now. I feel so much better, and my lab bloodwork has come down to regular levels! This video is very informative, but I can say that I don’t make these mistakes because I have watched your other videos. As you said, people say the same thing to me about the word “diet”. I say it’s not a “diet”, it’s a way of eating. Just like “The American Diet”, “Italian Diet”, or “Asian Diet”, it’s a cultural way of eating. And, let’s brag a little, this way of eating has been voted the #1 healthiest way of eating for 7 years in a row!!💕

This was another great video and, as always, helps me in my transition to Mediterranean style eating. I’m working on the lifestyle portion as well and am happy to say I’m getting out more and exercising more and enjoying that. I’m still having trouble with getting the protein in as others have also commented. I think it’s partly because I’ve come to enjoy so many plant based bowls and salads that I don’t think about an animal protein component until I’m plating my food! I’m not a fish eater so chicken and turkey will be my go-to’s going forward. I’ve started hard boiling eggs once a week so at least I have those handy in a pinch. I like pork but have had trouble eating it ever since I watched the movie Babe years ago. lol I would love to see some ideas from others as to how they “meal prep” their animal protein - any suggestions?

Thank you for this video. One of my rules of eating is that "if it swims, I don't eat it." I don't know why but I have never liked fish. I have had lobster twice in my entire 68 years and did not like either experience. I have cut way back on the red meat and focused on primarily chicken and turkey and leaner cuts of pork. I have labs due in August and am curious as to what my numbers look like. Thanks again!

Thanks. I’m trying to get that protein in. I’m over 50 and female so it’s super important.

As a healthcare professional, the word "diet" just refers to the type of foods you eat.

Definitely, I agree. I have been learning from some folks that they dislike the word "diet", however, since it sounds like "going on a diet" which is associated with restriction and discomfort. Not sure if you've encountered that too!

I’ve been trying to avoid animal products. Maybe I’m not getting enough protein? I also gained a few pounds, maybe too much legumes and starch?

Totally depends, it’s helpful for weight loss to really be able to track the total calories to know where you’re at. Very easy with carbohydrate sources to add extra oil to the cooking since it’s not inherently inside as much as with animal products - at least that has been my experience
