I absolutely love your content so much. The fact of the matter is that it’s a brand new home and things are going to pop up. I have been so fearful of DR Horton homes because of the stories I have heard. You guys just put my mind to ease. ❤️

I have had to just stop reading all the bad reviews on dr Horton, It was giving me mad anxiety lol. I am 5 months into my new construction home journey and I decided to just trust the process. I’m closing on my new build with them next month and I am very pleased at how my home is coming along. Even the choices that were preselected that worried me a little bit are beautiful. I was able to pick out some things at the design center myself and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s looking now. My realtor, DR Horton rep and even my lender have all been an awesome team. It’s really an amazing journey so far to my surprise in spite of all the negative reviews on them. The exterior brick and stone just went up on my home, my cabinets and countertops are in after months of delays and it’s absolutely gorgeous. So I’m just going to stay prayed up. You have a lovely home. Great content! Thanks for all the helpful info. 😊

Thanks for this video. We are 30-45 days away from closing on our new home with DR Horton (Genesee in Newnan). We did decide to upgrade and get the vent hood (I definitely wanted that look…downside is that we didn’t get the double oven as that 2nd oven was replaced with the microwave…thought that sucked) and we did add Ethernet in our media room, but now that you mention it, we should of done for all the rooms. I hope you continue to enjoy your home!

Thank you for watching and commenting. This is exactly why we want to talk about our journey. We heard so many negative things about DR Horton and almost passed up on our amazing neighborhood and this beautiful home. Every DR Horton community is managed by a different superintendent, so we can't guarantee that everyone's experience will be like ours. But you don't become the largest builder in the nation by building crappy houses.

One more tip on the framing inspection. Take yourself a framing square not a speed square and a 6ft level or a 4ft level and check the walls for plumb and stick the framing square in all the framed corners! You’ll be surprised how out of square and how out of plumb they can frame up those walls and you won’t notice till the final when the walls are painted! I’ve done Horton’s work for years and years and I’ve seen it all with them!

I love working (Realtor) with first time buyers. I’m glad they are sharing their experiences. As their loan officer said, no large purchases before closing. An underwriter could refuse to approve the loan. If you buy furniture, as an example, on credit, it could change your credit rating and again, the loan could be refused or changed. Ask about inspecting the house as it is being built. I bought a mobile home many years ago and went into it after it was delivered but before it was completely set up. There were huge holes in the sheet rock, the Formica was not joined properly, the marriage line ((where the two halves join) on the exterior was bowed outwards. The company was angry we went in early and told us we couldn’t go inside. We said it was our place etc but it only took a year afterwards to get everything fixed. Thanks for making this video. Great advice!

Hey y'all 😁 I just purchased my new home from D.R. HORTON 12/21. They didn't do a good job with the 'finishings' - sloppiness with painting, doors look like they are used, and my tile floors have grout haze. I had a huge ant pile right off of my porch; I used a chemical that I knew worked and called pest control. These are not complaints- I cannot wait to paint and clean up the careless painting job that was done. I love my home and I know that cosmetic fixes are apart of the joys of sweat equity. Thank y'all for sharing your experiences, I am definitely looking forward to the content y'all have in store for us in 2022 🙌🏽😊

Just FYI on your final walk through and drain them about 30 minutes before the walk through is over. This will tell you a couple things, that the overflows on the tubs are water tight and if the sewer line has any problems! Look at the ceilings below we’re the upstairs are located for wet spots! Always Always fill the master tub especially if it’s jetted up to the top over flow and run it during the walk through! Actually it wouldn’t hurt to fill all the tubs up to the middle of the top overflow at the beginning of the walk through Get your self a Sewer Popper for the outside sewer clean out! If the sewer line has been compromised the water will flow out into the yard instead of backing up in your home. My company installs these on every new construction home we plumb. Good for us and the homeowner!

3 month walkthrough isn’t standard procedure for every neighborhood. We had a good warranty team that was very proactive. I’d suggest either you do your own walkthrough and submit items or hire an inspector. Remember to read your warranty documents. That will give you a good idea on things to look for and what items you’ll want to wait until your 11th month to submit.

Hey, thanks for watching. Nail pops should be expected, particularly in new construction homes. As the house goes through the seasons, the wood dries, expands, shrinks, etc. all of this can cause nails to separate from the wood and push through the drywall. Thankfully, all new home construction builders expect this and include it in their warranty fixes. Have a great day! 😊

Our superintendent was pretty adamant about keeping the area clean. But pest control took care of the issue and we haven’t seen ants since.

Your house is beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing and giving us tips and realistic expectations about what to expect with a Jew build after moving in. Very educational! DR Horton has a huge reputation so I guess I was a little surprised with some of the issues but with your affirmation helps put my mind at ease to consider them as a builder. They are huge in Delaware!! Again, your house is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!
