3 Gram Carabiner Replacement for Hammocks

Found a new product that takes the place of a carabiner and/or dutch clip to connect your hammock suspension webbing to the tree. This allows for a secure and easy adjustment over branches.

His titanium and aluminum products are all made in America with American materials and he uses local sources for cutting. Thanks for the video.

Hi, @@jeffmyers7062 - If this use of the Evo loop/soft shackle is your idea, then mega thanks to you, because it is a truly great idea! I tried it using improved soft shackles, as taught by Tac Blades, and it works wonderfully. I just make the webbing side loop a bit bigger by making one more pass through. Hard to explain, but easy to see in the video. Thanks! FYI, I just ordered some of your blue webbing to make some tree straps to use with your method.

Jeff Myers (the owner of the Myerstech hammock labs) also has great tutorials for making button clips. I like them much better than Dutch clips (yikes, did I just say that) or Biners. This is a little different than the button clips on the tutorial, but similar in application. I like how both are actually attached to the loops on the straps, so that I can't lose them. My ultralight set up, using button clips with 10 foot straps for both sides is just under 2 oz. I use either the Beckett hitch or J-bend to attach to the hammock. So glad that you shared a look at these. Very cool.

@@howdydoody30204b Oh I never said Dutch was worried. He has his market and plenty of fans (I still purchase stuff from him). My comment was merely tongue-in-cheek, while pointing out how cool and versatile Amsteel is. Dutch's marketing is so good that many folks believe that you have to have titanium doohickeys if you want an ultralight option for your setup. But Amsteel is a very neat material. It's equally as ultralight as titanium, and does not cause abrasion on your other webbing/gear.

I really love my Dutch Clips. Nevertheless, I made a few pairs of these Evo Loops this afternoon and tried them out. They worked great and are very easy to handle. I was a bit unsure whether the knot would hold in the "buttonhole" at first, but this doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm not sure whether I am going to use them instead of the Dutch Clips yet. Maybe, if I am going to have a lightweight set for summer hammock hiking. I will see. Thank you for sharing.

You totally can but these help make adjustments once it's already on the tree. And make it faster setting up and tearing down because you don't need to take the straps off the hammock. These can be quickly removed with one hand so you can move in between branches.

You can do that but these 3gram loops make it easier to quick disconnect once your set up. Say you have a branch in your way where the strap has to come completely off. Just makes it a lot easier to raise or lower the hammock or even move it to another tree quickly.

You can, but if you need to raise your strap over a branch, then you would have to take your hammock off the suspension and rerun it. Carabiners, clips, and evo loops allow you to make quick adjustments to unhook and adjust and hook back in. For me it's worth the extra accessory to not have to dirty my hammock or have that extra nuisance in adjustments.
