Thank you for explaining WHY! I know enough to get in trouble
Actually, I've been doing the Oatmeal over Iron lustre for a number of years and I find that if you dilute the Oatmeal to the consistency of pancake batter, you can do a wider band to about halfway down the mug, and get a beautiful melding of the layers with a nice "hare's fur" rendition in the top layer and not have the glaze run to the bottom

Ooh good to know!!
Professional-looking job on the business card/tags. Very nice. Very interesting process. I read up some on pottery glazes and how they work. The color change between glazed before and after firing is amazing to see. What at first appears dull and muted really comes alive in the kiln. Very pretty. 10:02 Reminds me of abalone shells, minus some of the pearlescence.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for all the great tips throughout the video. I’m a new potter and extra new glazer.

What cone do you fire to in order to achieve these results? Love the instructions with reasons and the realistic advice, thanks for a great video

I usually fire to cone 6 (if I’m using ancient copper on anything) but sometimes 5.5 (standard) or 5 with 10 minute hold(anything I’m refiring to eliminate pin holes) - For bright colors leave as much room as possible between your pieces. Good airflow is required, I’m pretty sure.
Coming over from Sutton's Daze to watch!

Oat meal, in your video, is really thick. I’m just gonna fill it is the first time I see video showing how to apply a sick glaze like peanut butter! No, I know it works (in the past, I saw in other videos that people would diluted the glaze a little.)

Does anyone know what causes glazes to "skip" or "slide". I sometimes get bare spots where the glaze seems to slide down the wall during firing.

Do you wipe or rinse your bisque before glazing? I think it’s called crawling.

@@TinyChickPottery Thank you so much for your reply. I was using standard 553 but I got a lot of pinholes so I throw Little Loafers now. I think it is similar to B Mix 5. If my results are half as good as yours I will be ecstatic. I am new to pottery, but I love it.

Is this brand of glaze going to work for concrete planters?
@TinyChickPottery
2 жыл бұрын
100% no. Concrete does not get fired in a kiln. This is cone 6 stoneware glaze.
You are not just a pretty face, hahaha.❤️
Ok so what exactly did you use to do the galaxy glaze?
