LAYERING AMACO GLAZES // HONEY FLUX, TEXTURED TURQUOISE, AND ANCIENT JASPER // DRIPPY GLAZE COMBO

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video is how I combine some of the AMACO glazes. I did 3 coats of Honey Flux, Ancient Jasper and Textured Turquoise and the finished products had been fired at cone 6 with a 6 minutes hold.

Could I put wax resist around the bottom of the mug, to stop the glazing dripping too far?

I’m curious how many of these mugs you are able to glaze with a single pint or jar of honey flux for example. With 3 coats inside and 3 outside…. Will you be able to do 10 mugs? More? I’m just trying to decide how much to order of the base glazes like honey or birch. Thanks!!

I just did this combination today and I was able to do 9 mugs, 3 coats inside and 3 coats outside. I did a 10th mug but I needed one more coat to complete the inside, maybe it also depends on how thick you glaze and how big your mugs are.

What exactly does the hold at the end do? E.g if it is 5' or 10' minutes?

I’m curious about the 12” Diamond Grinding disc. *Are you using this on the pottery wheel? *If so, are there holes on the bottom for the bat pins? *If no holes, how do you keep it attached? *What grit do you recommend? Where can I find one? Your bottom of the mugs looked as though there were still some sheen left! Thanks in Advance!!!

I have a similar setup in my studio. I bought an 8" disc from DiamondCore Tools and I had a spare 12" plastic bat handy. The disc comes with an adhesive backing. Attach the plastic bat to the wheel, draw an 8" circle on it for centering, then attach the disc to the bat. I chose the 8" because it works for what I make and the 12" is twice the price. Remember to always use water when grinding. Hope this helped.
