Diamonds are lab created now. They will be viable well before most of the technologies will be if cost is the only issue. GE has been making diamonds since the 50's and now they are commercially available in jewelry quality. I am sure you won't need jewelry grade/sized.

Mercedes-Benz dealer charges $700-$1,200 to change the transmission fluid and filter. I got a kit with all the fluid, filter, seal, and new bolts for $139. Two years ago, I paid $149. I liked driving my wife's car, so I got me one too. LOL If I wasn't a mechanic, I couldn't afford my cars.

@mapache2185 even a good independent shop charges $130 per hour for labor. Plus they have to mark up the prices of parts to make money off that. I can order the same parts the dealer would use for a fraction of the price, but it doesn't have the Mercedes-Benz emblem stamped on the part. I just changed the trunk lift shock struts that say the brand name, but just don't have the emblem on it. I think I need to get a stamping tool to stamp my own Mercedes-Benz logo on the parts I replace. LOL

I had a 2001 mazda tribute with the 3.0 v6. It was fine most of the time. Never went too far with it and it needed a new transmission at around 110k miles. I sold it at 166k miles and the transmission was starting to act up by the time I was selling it. Now I have a 2.5 VW Jetta as a daily banger and it’s at 136k miles, original engine and transmission, running strong.

It HAS to be said, your example of McDs is mostly right…except for the cheap part, they haven’t been cheap for few years now and try to hide their prices on promo graphics at the drive thru even. And also engage in business tactics with their custom Taylor ice cream machines that “break down” all the time when all the other fast food places with Taylor soft serve machines have zero problems. Yea, they’re good example of spend tons on advertising and don’t deliver a value. Go to In N Out, complete opposite customer svc, better food, costs less. Just sayin.

Hey Scotty, those Evolution Golf carts all use proprietary parts and they are very proud of them. So when they start breaking, it gets expensive. Evolution is the Mercedes of golf carts. If you want a reliable and inexpensive to maintain golf cart, get an EZ-Go or a Club Cart. Ask me how I know. Yamaha may also be okay but just do not know.

Be careful when changing the CVT fluid on the Subaru Outback. It is not that the draining the fluid is a problem; it is getting the new fluid back in that can be the issue. You have to make dead sure that the fill plug is the right one. Even dealerships get this wrong. It is also difficult to get a hose to fill the CVT. I solved this by going in from the top of the engine with a plastic funnel with a 3/8” clear flexible hose attached. Works like a dream. Any hardware store will have the funnel and hose. Make sure you undo both plugs before you start so you know you can get oil into the transmission. Lastly there are KZread videos to look at.

3:02 Holy balls! Thanks for confirming this. I suspected this after I changed the fluid in my NV200 around 110k miles on it at the time. I only changed it after i damaged the fluid pan and it needed to be replaced, because it had a leak. So, I learned on KZread how to fix it, because I'm cheap and hate going to mechanics. Anyways, after I changed the filter and fluid for my transmission, I swear I got like 4 more mpg in fuel economy. It has an odometer or whatever that tracks your mpg on the dash and it went up significantly after changing it. Then I realized..these effing bastards always tell you not to change it or do anything with the transmission, but yet you change all the other fluids in the vehicle. Why not the damn transmission fluid?? These MFers!!

That’s only for a damaged transmission when you don’t want to change automatic transmission fluid. Regular transmission fluid change is always recommended at different time intervals. But the theory with not changing a damaged one is that there can be bits metal and the old thicker fluid will keep the transmission from slipping and not catching the bands and clutch packs

Here's the thing about the diamond batteries - they would even work with synthetic diamonds, since carbon-14 is a byproduct of the process. What's more, it's possible that with further development, they would be able to increase the carbon-14 content for more compact batteries. The down side: carbon-14 has an extremely loooong half-life, so you'd be waiting forever for it to decay and generate power. As far as I know, there's no way to accelerate this, but my knowledge is limited.

@davidanderson1268 clearly you've never seen how reliable their inline sixs are and how long they last with general maintenance. The 300 out of my 1980 F-100 is still running in a friend's 1980 Bronco, and it had 780k on it when I gave it to him.

there's always cars that last less than 60k miles/kilometers depending on how they are maintained my dad had a used 1987 Sterling/Rover 825 SL for about 6 mos. in 1993 and it had about 60k on it when he got rid of it and my uncle Rico gave him his 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Classic which dad drove for another 6.5 years and 115,000 more miles for ex my younger brother and I went to sleepaway summer camp in Westford MA granted that's less than a 50 Mile drive on the interstate

Every car my family has had from the 90s to early 2000s has gone well over 100k but all these newer cars have costed us a fortune in repair bills they really DONT make them like they used to. You shouldn’t be having MAJOR repair bills before 100k but a lot of these newer cars are set up to FAIL. And NO I’m not saying every single new car is a piece of poop but Scotty’s right when he says wait until the model is a few years old to see if theirs any bugs or kinks they Gota work out. Your much better off buying something between 2010 to 2020 if u want a newer car cause you can see what kind of track record it has and reviews or any potential problems that u can read about to make you STAY AWAY from them

I just remembered your account. My geanddad was obsessed with you. He passed two years ago and ive been thinking about him a lot recently. I had a mechanic scalp my parts and destroy my engine over a simple repair i know i coulda done on my own. I can hear him yelling at me for not sittting my butt down, watching a few videos and just -doing- it. I have a totaled engine and cut battery cables over two solenoids.
