3 Boxing Beginner Drills You HAVE to Know - Great for the Heavy Bag!

Спорт

Go Here to Download Your Book - www.myboxingcoach.com - Boxing beginner drills are an interesting concept, because the bottom line is that these boxing beginner drills involve skills that you will see executed by elite-level fighters. The key is that the drills build the skills and you must work hard to execute them consistently well.
Contents:
0:00 Introduction
0:26 Beginner Boxer Toolkit
1:41 Drill #1 - Phased attack one/two
5:10 Drill #2 - Lay back
8:05 Drill #3 - Slip out
10:50 Wrap up
Boxing beginner drills #1 involves one of the absolute go-to skills sets for the boxer. The phased attack is about hitting first and hitting last, and in between making the opponent suffer. This drill provides the basis for solid counter punching. The jab, push out and back in and then the one-two. As with all boxing beginner drills (and all drills in general), avoid the common faults.
Boxing beginner drills #2 involves holding the feet static, so no footwork skills. It's about using the lay back and coming back with a powered up back hand.
Boxing beginner drills #3 is similar to the 2nd drill but we execute a slip out instead of a lay back. This is about building pressure and firing power-based shots, you don't give an inch.
The fact is that these beginner boxer drills will serve you well for years, they involve skills that will be used over and over again. Work the drills and then try what you've learned on your heavy bag session.
Cheers
Fran

I’ve been practicing the first one on the bag. I sparred for first time on Monday and managed to land it a few times. I’m gonna practice it a bit more before moving onto the next one

@@myboxingcoachI was buzzing when it landed. Then I landed it another 2 times then my opponent got wise to it and stepped back the same time as I did. I’ll have to hop further forward next time

Thanks for the video, coach!! Quick question: A lot of boxing coaches are VERY ADAMANT about exhaling sharply when throwing punches but it doesn't appear that you're doing that. In your opinion, is it actually necessary? Just curious. Thanks in advance!

Yes. People naturally hold their breath when they punch. Forcing yourself to breath out "shh, shh" makes you breath and exhale with each punch. Plus, it activates your muscle fibers by sending oxygen through your body. The louder, harsher "ahh, ahh" is when you're putting power in your shots. Mix it up, relax, and watch people who are better than you, and do the same.
