Many of the negative internet comments about the series are that the smart characters don't sound smart and as a university mathematician, I find that bizarre

It should be more show, not bore everyone to death for 3/4 of each show talking about mundane stuff & more dedicated to driving the plot forward, not to mention all the screen time wasted on flat emoting. Jin's the only character & acrtress who looks & sounds like a serious scientist. The rest come across as clueless or emotional dilettantes. The main characters shouldn't have been divided among all of these extra people that are just there for padding & modern political propaganda, which is why the show deviated from a Chinese-centric cast & setting to favor western, totalitarian, atheist "shariah" instead - as if the increasingly weak west actually rules the world while China's power & influence is already high & is still rise while the west is collapsing under the weight of a 7th century, pagan death cult from Saudi Arabia.

@@MeanOldLady every character sounds like some one or combination of my colleagues. I didn't know being smart or sounding smart had one unique mode of expression until I heard the criticisms. The main characters from the three books haven't really been divided though. We have wade, ji, Wenjie, tiangmin, cheng, AA. They are all there represented. The show was always designed to be westernised. China got their own version of the show recently. Characters have to emote and develop. Its part of the TV medium. Which is why they needed to make the primary characters relate to each other so they weren't disconnected like the books. I won't even respond to the stupid political remark. Go outside and touch grass.

I kind of feel insulted that a lot of people say that scientists can not be that attractive and well dressed😂 like are we all supposed to be frumpy and wearing lab coats everyday everywhere . I mean I do😅but I have colleagues that definitely don’t

@@Ph.D_in_rabbit yeah we get stereotyped by the media and people that don't leave their basement get angry when the seducated characters in a show don't speak like Sheldon Cooper or some shit

i don't know why people get so fussed about what "sounding smart" should look like or sound like. if a thought is well communicated, people will understand.

Not sure if Matthew Kenzie read ahead... because he'll have to be far more involved if season 2 and season 3 and possibly season 4 happens. It just gets more science-y as we move forward in the timeline.

Hey, you're talking to the person from Netflix, right, so you could tell him that I can do the voice for Woody Wallpequé in Latin Spanish.

It could be the VR devices are just decoys for the sophons to create visual imagery inside of the small headspace.

@@wilsonyu7284yes. Towards eps 6,7&8 the lady with the sword in the game is the Sophon. At least they refer to her as Sophon. So the device must have been developed by the human with the instructions of the Sophon since it got to earth already.

@@wilsonyu7284 that's exactly what it is. the VR device only exists as deception, they can do all of that without the headset,
