I go to Germany every year for vacation. Very friendly people, 95% speak fluent English, and I absolutely love how well mannered the drivers are. God Bless Germany!

Bdassvidsz no, because race tracks very rarely let you reach high speeds. Fast sections like on the Nordschleife are rather an exception. The Autobahn on a sunday afternoon or at night is perfect for high speeds and it is safer than any Countryroad even though without speed limit, so i don't see the reason to stop it. Normal cars can also go 250km/h where should they be driven then? i personally don't understand why other countries don't do it like us because they have speed limits and yet their Highways are more dangerous statistically. The Autobahn is the fastest and probably safest road on earth.

The "old" Gallardos are the best! That looks like a ton of fun!!

I like how everyone in North America thinks there's no limit on the autobahn. There is a limit. Officially it's 130 or 140 kmh. And they also have a variable speed system installed so people monitoring the highway and traffic flow can adjust the speed limits in case of bad weather. There are only certain sections of road that are unlimited. I've passed German cops doing about 180 kmh and didn't get pulled over even though the limit officially is 130. But again it was a nice sunny summer day. Try passing them on a rainy day or when the variable speed sign is flashing or in a construction zone and see what happens to you. Fastest I've done was 235 kmh and the car couldn't go any faster and believe that's pretty fast. These guys are pushing 300 if not a little over. You don't realize one miscalculation and that Lamborghini becomes your coffin. Good luck.

naaaa not really, trust me... last week i rode home from university with ~210 kmh and behind me were 2 audi, which were really fucking close to my car and they came close with every meter :D i had to go to the right lane... theyre pushing you so hard and without mercy :D

Jonas Horn My grandfather had one rather small accident in ~50 years... Bad example... In Germany, even most old people drive well.

cool video ! When the autobahn is empty like this, it is great fun. The best racing autobahn is A2 and A4 in Eastern germany. It is complete new and lots of kilomters without speed limit. Try Sunday morning early 5 - 8 o'clock best time ! No trucks and very less cars.

Makes me a bit sad. :-/ Here in Hong Kong I can drive my Countach at max. 110 km/h on highways and 70 to 80 km/h on most expressways. Maybe not that bad...considering how shitty everyone drives around here.

flatshade the problem i have with this here is, that the Autobahn is a public road, not a raceway. Those guys you can see in this video don't give a fuck about the rules on the Autobahn and are positive about endangering themselves and others in the process. This is NOT how you drive on the Autobahn. Sure you can drive your Countach faster than 110 kmh on the Autobahn, but if you ever become an Autobahntourist, PLEASE learn how to drive there first. Foreigners often seem to not know about the rule to drive and the most right lane that is possible, esspecially italians. Yeah ok, if you want to ride your Countach to top speed, this probably doesn't apply to you but yet there are other rules for overtaking, distance between cars, signals and not even all sections of the Autobahn are free of a speed limit. Autobahntourism is something really dangerous in my opinion and also something unnecessary. Most people who come to germany just to go fast on the autobahn could easily afford a few days on the racetrack per month, which would be much more safer for everyone on the Road.

I imagined the autobahn as some 5 lane badass highway.... And its some turd two lane highway...

I've never understood why Germans insult Americans so freely when that is the dominant ethnic group in the US, in fact like most founding European immigrants there are more Americans of German descent than people in Germany. Our first speaker of the house was a German and it was nearly our official government document language in Pennsylvania where the capital originally was in Philadelphia. Anyway the difference in autobahn construction was primarily for transitory walking, only about 15% of the Wehrmacht was mechanized, whereas the US Highways were designed for ballistic weaponry transport so they were wider. Also funding thru DOT means highways are maintained by states individually, I imagine in Germany it is federalized.

It depends wich country you are in. Germany has the best quality of gas and its about 2 dollars + per litre as in Gasoline. Diesel are a bit cheaper, but quality varies form country to country. Diesel from Macedonia cost about 1,3 dollars but only gives my car 700 km of range, diesel from Germany or Scandinavia may be up too 2 dollars but takes my car about 1000 km.

He's American.... gas is $9.00 US per gallon... I paid $140 US for a full tank in Germany... almost 3 times what I pay in New Jersey, about $50-60. But German cars are twice as efficient.

I remember thé first time on a German Autobahn, coming from my native Brittany and seeing all thé Mercs, Bmws, and Porsche driving at 180-200 kmh. It was in 1973 on the A4 near Freiburg ! At that time what a discovery ! M'y mother drove only 140 with à Citroen GS, 55 HP !! Now, 44 years later I drive a BMW 320d, 184 HP, but most often at about 110-130.the highest speed I went at was 200 exactly ! Between 2005 and 2007 I drove à Jaguar X type , 231 HP, once at 240.
