To people still calling the 911 a Beetle with blah blah blah. Here are the facts: Ferdinand Porsche, whom is the grandfather of Butzi Porsche, which was the designer of the first 911, was named Car Engineer of the century in 1999. He was responsible for designing the first hybrid petrol-electric car in 1901 onto the original Mercedes-Benz S (SSK etc), regarded by many as the most desired car in history. Ferdinand Porsche helped design tanks like the Tiger 1 and 2 and then he also developed one of the most influential cars in history, the Beetle. The Model-T was the first car ever to be built in mass production, a true milestone, though only a very small portion of people were wealthy enough to afford a car regarded as cheap in its time. The VW Beetle was the first car not only affordable in the first world, but also in the developing world and considering the time, beetles were reliable and easily maintained. Then there is another name to throw in here, Ferdinand Piëch, the man named Car executive of the century in 1999, also grandson to Ferdinand Porsche and responsible for the Bugatti Veyron, Audi Quatro, VW Phaeton and is currently the President of VW, the most profitable car manufacturer in the world. So next time think before insulting the 911, which was named 5th most influential car of the century behind the VW Beetle.
