+Lila Pusteblume when you live in Switzerland, AKA land of the ripoff kantonal system, Germany is a driver's dream. Drive so much as 15 km/h over the 120 limit in Switzerland and receive a 800 euro/sfr fine. Proven many times, speeders are GENERALLY safer drivers because they're more alert due to higher adrenaline. These fines are nothing but fraud to fund the government's corrupt agendas. Driving on Autobahn towards Bad Krozingen/Freibourg from Basel in a Polo GTI running RON 102 Benzin from Germany. Just wow. Going over 200km/h and barely even uses any fuel, even with Sport Mode enabled.

I love driving on that road,I live in New York and our Thruway was modeled after it.The last time I drove on your road you had a ton of traffic more than you used to have, but the Mercedes Lane still managed to stay open for 120 miles per hour and up.

YEARS AGO the USA had NO SPEED LIMITS, then it was set (by each state) at 70/75 MPH UNTIL the fuel shortages during the 1970's. As an emergency response to the 1973 oil crisis, on November 26, 1973, President Richard Nixon proposed a national 50 mph (80 km/h) speed limit for passenger vehicles and a 55 mph speed limit for trucks and buses. A Bill became Law on January 2, 1974, and became effective 60 days later,[11] by requiring the limit as a condition of each state receiving highway funds. Then between 1987 and 1988, a 65 mph limit request was granted for some states to increase speed on "Rural"(County) road (for 4 yrs),and FINALLY Congress lifted ALL Federal speed limit controls, returning all authority back to the states effective December 8, 1995. NOW SPEED LIMITS RANGE from 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 & 80 MPH in different states and areas of each state on MOST Highways & "Rural"(County) road! I HAVE RIDDEN IN CARS GOING 120 MPH that were driven by my father and my aunt (30+ yrs ago) and I have also driven a car (125 MPH Chevy Z24) and 4 Tractor Trailers 90, 96, 101 & 130 MPH (Volvo, Peterbilt, & 2 Freightliner Classics).

here in australia the northern territory tested an unlimited speed zone on a 200 km stretch of highway..._fewer_ fatalities than the years where it was capped at 130 km/h. Now they're getting rid of it. Dumbasses.

there are speed limits on German motorways, but usually as exception and to regulate traffic flow through specific areas. this areas include a portions of road with some roadworks or bad weather conditions or next to big cities or motorway knots. otherwise the "no speed limit" actually means that you're free to chose whatever speed you like that matches your driving style, without the hassle of being caught by radar. you can have fun in a sport car or drive as economically as possible over a very long stretch. that's the secret behind the "no speed limit" myth. but in order to successfully implement it you need a very good discipline in traffic. the "untold" law of the 3 lanes motorway says the following: 1st lane is for lorries, 2nd lane for cruising, 3rd lane for going very fast and overtaking. and it just works!

Germans are brought up with a strict driving discipline, and those who are driving fast knows what they are doing. I have been driving many thousands of km on German Autobahns. It's really a well functioning high speed road system. It only works safely because of the strict discipline. I must say though the discipline has experienced a dive since many Eastern Europeans got access to the autobahns.

+DerSpassVerderber Unsinn was du sagst.

One thing that is somewhat never mentioned that the person driving did, and honestly is very important, they had their hands in the proper position of 9 and 3. I understand it's mostly because of the shift paddles, but still, proper hand placement on a steering wheel at high speeds, is never really complimented. Kudos to them. Way to be a good driver, even at 205 mph.

In 2006 I went with friends from Rennes, Brittany to Paris. We had a X type 3 liter, 234 hp. There were only a few indicated radars on the motorway so at night we drove the jag to the limit, 240 tacho, as often as we could. In just 2 hours the 370 km distance was done. In these days there was still some tolerance and freedom on French roads. .

  • @ChrisRuhr

On German Autobahn theres no speed limit unless its marked by a sign like 80, 100 or 120 are the most ones. If you pass a drive-up and there is no speedlimit-sign at the Autobahn shown, the last speedlimit is gone und you can drive fast as you can. BUT if you see a Speed-Limit Sign you have to reach the limit BEFORE you pass that sign. e.g you drive 200 km/h and you see a Sign of 120 km/h limit approaching, you have to reduce your speed before you pass that sign down to 120 max. There is also a recommended speed of 130 on the Autobahn, that means, if you have an accident you will partially guilty to this accident if your speed was higher than 130 km/h. Also there is minimum speed of 60 km/h on the Autobahn.

I love driving on the Autobahn. From this video you don't realise that those cars driving in the second lane are likely doing 150-160kph and when driving at that speed, which is quick enough for most, you look in the rear vision mirror and see a little dot, you look again and realise it's a big Merc or a Porsche or whatever flying up at 250kph plus which goes flying past you. A very good reason not to sit in that outside lane.

  • @GAFflyer

You HAVE to take the right lane, if the estimated time until the beginning of the next passing maneuver ist to be longer than 15 seconds. This Regulation is called "Rechtsfahrgebot", something which most people in Germany sadly don't seem to know about!

I love watching these videos I would fit in very nicely over there if I had such a car. Is your attitude about getting caught speeding at 100mph over the limit that if you can afford the car you can afford to get out of trouble with the police?

1.) The speed limits on German motorways are exactly regulated, as the track use. We have a right driving regulation and may only overtake on the left if we have verified that no one comes from behind, which is faster. The middle lane driver in the video that have no vehicle on the right side in front of him, already committing an offense. We have signs that specify speed limits, speed recommendations and free driving.

Yes, you are right. However, I have seen some high speed accidents on the autobahn and frankly there was nothing left. I once saw a Mercedes v12 depart the road into the trees and when the trees were done falling the car was as demolished as an airliner in a vertical dive crash. Looked like a sleeping driver as there where no signs of trouble, it just veered off of the road, through the guard rails and into the woods. I estimate 250kph for that one as he passed me like I was parked.

I wish there were some highways in America where you could do things like this (American drivers moving over for you to pass, yeah right). But you can speed and get it out of your system rather than being a danger to other people on most public roads.

free speed limit is awesome, most of the people want to reach their destination as fast as possible. the % of accidents is quite low because germans get prepared well in driving schools and 90% of drivers behave well. there are only few assholes, driving reckless and dangerous when there is much traffic. They dont care threatening mothers with kids, old people,...who might drive insecure. and tourists coming to germany to race Autobahn, Screw you, go to a racetrack bastards! sometimes its pretty chilled to drive in spain, france,..with 130kmh. almost fall asleep though.

Notice how everyone politely gets out of the way without making a fuss about it? Half the of no speed limit strips are even 2 lane highways! And here we are with 5 lanes and capped at 65 mph even at 4 am at night with not a single car on it.
