Quite the divisive pair of pedals it seems! Honestly I’m really happy with the sound of them. I do agree, when JM shouts about gear EVERYONE gets it. For what it’s worth, I was late to the hype train, and also it was Pete that showed me these. Once trying I had to get some. But that’s because I could hear how they’d benefit the sounds I go for. But also in the studio recording. I remember when we were recording the Toska album, and there were a few tones I really had to fight for, and even then, I wasn’t happy whole heartedly. It became a post production thing to get the tone and I was really unhappy about that. So in this instance, these pedals probably would’ve saved it. It’s simply a pair of pedals that enhance any tone you get. It’s like the magnify the detail musically, which I love! Especially for some of the tones I like to create. Also just to say, this isn’t a sponsored video if anyone is sceptical or dubious on that front. I just get excited about tones and the things I know I’ll benefit from In my tones! As always, thanks for checking out the video!

Can I just rachet the row up (;) by saying there's more to them than a simple EQ and Buffer - I read the review by that nice Harp lady - diametrically opposite, musically* to 'Bea. I was impressed! Look, examine your circumstances with Pedal Cost. Do you really need it? Will your audience care about it? If recording does the studio have something that may do the same thing? If you are sitting at home, are not in a Band etc., you may be better off buying something else or spending it on something else. Use your judgement. Everyone has been in this position even, 'Bea. Finally do not shoot the messenger! Pete. *Acoustic / Electric

Just here to brighten up the comments. I absolutely love what they do for your tone. Probably won’t be something I will be getting anytime soon, but I’m so happy that you have the chance to pick something like this up for yourself and just share your thoughts about. Your almost child-like excitement about tone is what has pushed me back into really trying to search for tones that inspire me. So thanks a lot man. Really looking forward to what you continue to do.

i feel like this demo helped me finally understand more of what these are for, and i love what it sounds like they’re doing! seems super useful. that said, close to $600 is a lot to drop on an input / output conditioner for the average non-pro musician.

Would recommend for anyone who doesn’t get what these do to join the Believable Audio Discord server! I had a few questions and talked with the head there, which was nice just as a consumer interacting with the company, but also I got a more in depth explanation to questions that I had. I have a bit of an engineering background and technical knowledge, so these pedals (especially EUNA) appealed to me, as I have a big board that would benefit from a real high quality buffer. While these are for sure not for everyone, and in all honesty not for most people, a certain person would really benefit from these. Very subtle, but powerful pedals I’d say. Great video Bea!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever walked into my studio and left everything the way I had it the night before-even if the night before I was sure I had finally achieved the sound I was looking for in my head. Inevitably I’m twisting knobs and changing the combinations of pedals. I’m not sure I’m the target market for these pedals, but conceptually, having two pedals that allow me to shape the dynamics, tone, and response of my guitar in ways that are both creative and intuitive? Yes please.

I suppose I've seen fancier buffers going for about that rate but without the EQ. The harmonics option is an interesting take too. I definitely see the benefit in say driving the low end into certain pedals in the EUNA's loop (maybe a brighter OD that has a specific feel) then adding brightness back in with the OAMP ala tape machine pre-emphasis curves. Cool products, really great demo!

hi Rabea, very thanks for your always objective and very inspiring demos, I just wanted to say that it seems to me that the buffers are made for guitars that do not have treble correction on the pots of the guitar, all the the purpose of the buffer is not to lose treble on the drop in volume on a guitar as they were originally in the 60's, no one has ever made a demo with a guitar like the original, it would be really interesting to see a demo with the pots of the volume simply. thank you again and long live the music!

Electrolytic caps are similar to lead acid batteries. It's a polarized cap with liquids or gels inside with a pure aluminum anode and the oxidization of the metal creates its own cathode creating the ability to store a small charge that can almost instantly dump the full capacity. Been learning lately about DC components. The more ya know!

It's like removing a wet blanket from the cabinet. At first the sound is fine, then you turn it on and it comes to life. But when you turn it off, it just feels dull until you put it back on. Immense pedal!

  • @onenotesolo256

The Euna is a set and forget up front (or anywhere - doesn’t have to be first in the chain, and nor does the Oamp have to be at the end). The EQ tweaks are useful if you’re changing guitars, and you can put your fuzz in the loop. The Oamp is handy for dialling in different guitars and especially different amps (e.g. if you have to use someone else’s back line). They are both excellent “more better” pedals if you’re into cleans / clean-ish / low gain. The impact is more pronounced than a normal buffer and, for want of a better word, more “hi-if” or pristine than other “more-better” pedals that I use, like the Thorpy Fat General (which I love), Chase Secret Preamp, Jackson Prism etc etc etc. As Bea said, it doesn’t gain up your tone, just makes it more 3-D. You probably don’t need both of them, and it would be good if the Oamp had two outs for stereo or a wet/dry rig. Overall, I’d say they’re in the camp of when you turn them off, “Where the hell did my tone go”. Not essential, but definitely nice to have with long cable runs and using a range of amps.

Wow, such a massive improvement in tone. I mean it totally sucked before. And that for such a low price and they don’t need much space on your board either. Incredible! You have to use gold cables though, or else it’s pointless.

Hahaha I mean, there’s definitely a market for this gear. Would I say it’s a vital component…? Not in my opinion. However, the more intense your signal chain gets, the more it’s appreciated being there. It has definitely improved some tones on my board, particularly tones where things can get very muddy, wether it be with fuzz or lots of ambience. So far I’ve found some great results. But yeah, I totally appreciate that they’re not for everyone.

Can definitely hear the difference with the pedals engaged, though some observations. Without knowing anything about how they work, on the face of it like others have said, it sounds just like a buff plus eq. I even wonder if something like the EP or RC from Xotic would have similar effect on the tone. In regards to the loops, the one in the Oamp seems kinda pointless if you have other things on in the chain before it. The loop on the Euna at the start of the chain, I can see how that could benefit, but the Oamp, not so much. But to each their own, and if they suit your needs, all power to ya!

I feel I get a lot of enough of what I'd want these two pedals for with just my Cusack More Louder boost which boosts and fill things in a bit, has a switchable buffer, and uses 1/10 of the space for a hundred bucks. That and a tweak or two of the amp controls and I can dial in what I'm looking for. But I can see how for those with unlimited budgets and pedalboard space these two fairy dust makers are must haves.

Alright, well I'm definitely not the target market for these, I don't have the pedalboard space for starters, but then I'm certainly no John Mayer. Like others have said it does sort of seem like something you could just achieve with some amp tweaks or an EQ pedal, but if you're a professional and want even more tweaking to the nth degree then sure, why not. EDIT: I've just noticed that chonker of a monitor on your desk Rabea :D Are they Neumann KH310A?

Yeah I agree. Even just one is a lot of money and above all pedalboard space. I use my Strymon Riverside as an always on buffer (buffer can be set to be active even when the pedal is off) and that solves any high end loss issues on my board without dedicating space for only a buffer. Otherwise I'd probably get a buffer that is compact and can be crammed under a pedalboard.

@@RabeaMassaad It's not a paid video, they just sent you 600$ pedals. C'mon, semantics.

@@mbgmail5911 so.. if I didn’t like them I’d send them back. Either way, The choice to make a video was because I’m into them and think some of you guys would benefit from them. You think because someone sends pedals, it means I’m forced to say they’re great?! C’mon man!

This is another example of how ridiculous the pedal market has gotten. $600 for a buffered EQ, ffs.

I'll be honest. This is 600 bucks worth of pedals you don't need if you have a decent pedalswitcher like the G2 And even when relevant. These pedals are wildly overpriced.

Overpriced and overhyped IMO. Nothing too far from a buffer and an EQ working together
