Fascinating. I’m looking at flights to Cordoba and Seville
26min 100 000 is very low estimate we think that was between 250000-700000 in 10 ct and in beginning of 11ct up limit to 1000000 people in cordoba! Crazy but very good podcast!
It's often forgotten how important Cordoba was in the last two centuries of the existence of Rome. And that importance continued with the Visigoths.
No mention of Ziryab the entire episode! The migrant musician from Persia who invented the Andalusian school of Arabic music and is credited with inventing the three course meal among other alleged exploits! Great overview of Al Andalus otherwise 😊

The interpretation of jizya tax seems like kindergarten version, the same lie repeated millionth times. Jizya tax was for non Muslims, yes, but it's not a tax on every head of population, plus lots of people were exempt, such as the elderly, and so on. The Muslims also paid a tax, which was only applicable to the Muslims. Simple interpretations of history amounts to feeding lies.

Ohhh shut up. The jyzia played an explicit role in converting Christians. It’s clearly a repressive and coercive tenant of Islam. It’s how Islam was spread, don’t try to change history

@@skp8748that's absurd, he has studied historical Islam, rather than repeating the myths. That hardly makes him an Islamaphobe.
Biggest comeback since Lazarus.
