what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in south east asia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

Wow! This is the greatest travel advice video I have ever seen. You really covered pretty much everything someone should know. I've never been to SEA, and I'm still not even sure I ever will make it there but I stumbled across this and there's a lot here that is probably good tips for traveling anywhere, internationally. My only international travel experience was a bit different as it was military, so much of this didn't apply to me. I am so new to the whole world of the comms and digital aspects like international SIM cards and cell service and things like that. I remember when I first landed in Japan and my phone instantly became nothing more than a clock. I was like "Oh yeah! Duh!" lol. I will sub to your channel for future tips. Thanks for this.

So, on point, Kim. I just got back to Vietnam. They didn't ask me about a return flight. Also, the best hamburger I had in my whole life. I love Southeast Asia. It's sad I'm going back in a few weeks. But only for 30 days. The packing tips are perfect. The napkins/tissues issue is real. I amso over weight. I've learned I am not a backpacker. It's not my thing. I tried for 4 months. I need luggage 🧳 😆 🤣 😂. Look forward to seeing you back out there. Catch you around the world. 🌎

@?Clouds for the older folks. If you have physical limitations or if your just not about having your whole life in one bag. I need luggage. I say try it and see if you like it. I did it for almost six months. Not for me. Traveling yes. But I've seen thousands that love it. There is a hugh following and a giant backpacker culture.. Enjoy the ride. Be open-minded and be ready for anything. Plans change as fast as you land in the next city. Have fun and enjoy the journey.

I wouldn't tell people to ride motorbikes. It's a major problem in Asia, people getting hurt, falling down ditches, in canals, generally dying and ending up disabled. Your insurance is void unless you have a motobike specific license. Realise that flight evacuation can be $100-200K. People have lost everything.

Hi Grace, can I just ask, but how old were you when you travelled South-East Asia? I'm asking, as I'd like to do the same, however I also want to go to uni, and I need to decide which to do first between travelling or university. I'm 24 years old now, and I'd be 28 years old after university? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Probably vietnam, cambodia, and indonesia have very reach and ancient culture. Myanmar, isnt that popular but its quite interesting. If you want to experience the city go to thailand, malaysia or singapore. If you want to go hiking there are alot of good mountains around vietnam, and rice terraces, also in the Philippines.

Jogjakarta-Indonesia has Borobudur, Prambanan, and other temples. Even if the majority of Indonesia is islam but has many temple in the past. But if you going to Bali Indonesia, the majority of Bali is still hindu, so the culture is still preserve there. In the past Indonesia colonized by Dutch so if you going to Jakarta or Bandung many Dutch architecture building there, even if being colonized by Dutch for a long time no one speak Dutch here, and not many use English for daily conversation. Indonesia has more than 700 local language, to unity them all Indonesia citizen could speak Bahasa Indonesia, for daily life mostly use their local language, for public interest / mass media / school mostly use Bahasa Indonesia. But if you going to Bali most of Balinesse is trilingual ( Balinesse language, Bahasa Indonesia, and English) because its world tourism destination.
