Great video, I’m currently in the process of planning my travels to Thailand so these videos are coming at the right time. Looking to go in May as my first time travelling solo. Was a little worried about the seasons but as long as it doesn’t ruin it I’m not worried.

You should do a south east Asia q&a while you’re out there if possible? Planning to go in October would be great to know about vaccines you’d recommend, travelling between, visas etc. thanks can’t wait to see the video while videos there

what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in South East Asia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

Honestly the season you go in isn’t that bad, global warming has messed up the rainy dry season anyway so afternoon shower doesn’t ruin your time your going to love it out there! Excited for you! If you need any help let me know!

Hey Joel! I will be starting a 3-month solo trip around SE Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand) very soon. I do have some questions on health matters though. For long stays I've been told anti-malarian medicine (a shit ton of side effects) is not recommended but I'm kinda scared not to take it ngl (preventing measures include repellant, mosquito nets and AC, but I'll probably not be able to have all these every night). Also regarding Japanese Encephalitis, apparently it's quite deadly and the vaccine is not available in Europe at the moment. Any thoughts? 🙏 Love your videos :)

I'm also in the same boat and have been concerned about malaria and the pills and side effects. It seems the entire region is quite affected by malaria right now so do be safe.

Just wondering pal how do you go about booking the coaches and trains in se Asian countries (internal and crossing borders) would be very helpful :)

Oh yeah definitely £800 is definitely doable if your really budget conscious you could do it on £600 a month! This doesn’t include flights out there and stuff though so just take that into account!

I was thinking of going to south east Asia and was wondering if you can apply for a visa for different countries once you’re out there or if you have to plan ahead e.g say I go to Thailand but then want to go to Cambodia should I have prepared the visa before hand or can that be done in Thailand /Cambodia ? So, you don't need to plan anything in terms of visas you can just sort it out ocne your here. For example Cambodia you get a visa on arrival for $35 USD so no need to plan

The chinese new year, lunar new year, falls on jan 22 for some asian countries, including asean countries. This means the super-peak period for holiday travel and logistics nightmares are extended beyond the usual 25 dec to 1 jan. Chinese new year lasts for at least 2 weeks which means... if you or goods are stuck-trapped somewhere, the costs of hotel or warehousing will bankrupt many people. Expect big issues and backlogs till end of feburary. If there is a need to travel during this period to these regions, buy good and reliable insurance, bring lots of alternate forms of funds, ... perishables cannot be accepted for storage for too long... some newbies will have to dump prices very quickly... healthy cash-flow for businesses and business-men during this period is critical.

If I’m honest I think that’s not enough time it will be rushed! Maybe Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia but not Thailand

Yes you can online trader from your main bank account to resuolt! And you can transfer it back into your main accounts I have no idea how it works in Asia

Staying flexible and not planning ahead seems complicated when they ask you for a flight ticket back or to another country during the check-in within 30 days. Otherwise, you'll need to apply for a visa for every country.

Either buy a cheap ticket for 30 dollars and just never use it. Some people also use websites that give you legitimate return tickets that never cross the proccessing screen

Hey I wanna go for 5 months to Southeast Asia (banana pancake trail). Still don't know when, cause of Covid. I wanted to ask you if you know where to start the best. How long to stay in each place and so on. I'm a little bit overwhelmed with my plan, cause I don't have a plan haha. I'm not sure if I don't plan now, that I will be complete lost there and that I don't know what to do there.

I might do a video of planning! Have a rough plan of where to go but don’t book anything. The best place to start in Southeast Asia is definitely Bangkok as it’s a big airport and great backpacker hub!

Only if you use the Unix operating system.

even in Thailand, you're gonna want pizza now and then - you will NOT be able to avoid having a paad thai at least once (even the better western versions are probably mediocre at best - go for it) - If you have a peanut allergy, that's going to be an issue if you can't understand thai (I cannot, but also I can eat peanuts) Beer is said to be budget friendly but be common sense friendly

Certainly not. You should have the COVID vaccine at least two doses to jump around this region. Or else, you will be quarantined for 7-10 days every place. Just look up the updated travel information.

I would say that if you are trekking or going in jungles, I would wear hiking boots to prevent you from getting bitten by nasty insects. Definitely get SIM cards as it is cheaper.. I think when it comes to visas, this is more applicable to UK passport holders like myself going to Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia
