As well as that may be - I still need to find an other narrowboat channel I can turn to for my weekly fix of canal boating. Especially since the only other boating channel I watched announced "we're done" in the SAME F#$% WEEK... :(

Thank you for featuring the CRT and volunteers. They get a lot criticism from a few boaters who seem to have little or no idea how vital they are. It is tricky to keep vlogs interesting and informed without overloading your audience, you nail it every time. A voice custom made for easy listening is a real gift. It is easy to feel a connection with your reactions. You speeded up, you aligned (erm) idiosyncratically with an offset lock and it did not matter. This was about completing the journey. The boat looked beautiful as she neared her return and she, like you, will go on to new adventures. One big question remains, are you absolutely sure that was a real heron? With canalside mannequins etc, one can only wonder what next! Hopefully you be out and about soon, perhaps with more travel flexibility. Very best wishes for your new adventures, from the unpaid Beavercraft fan.🪂🤿🎿⛵

The epic saga comes to an end. I was one of your first three hundred subscribers, and loved all your video's. I especially enjoyed your tea time chats, the wood stove ticking over in the background. I was over joyed when shortly after your first year you decided to extend your experiment. You have done the canals justice and given us glorious prose and photo's of a life very few of us will ever realize. I follow all your Chanels and enjoy your camper van almost as much as your boat life. Thank you for sharing and showing an old retired American what the UK is all about. looking forward to your new stuff.

David-- Your closing out your time traveling on your narrowboat is bittersweet. Your insights, graciousness and warm, eloquent communication while on the water will be greatly missed-- though I do look forward to your next chapter of 'Cruising the Cut'. As with most everyone that has followed your journey, you have become a friend to many of us. You opened our eyes to a life and lifestyle that I never imagined. Friends with whom I shared your videos were instantly captivated. You should know that your vlogs allowed me, and I'm sure a great many others, the ability to enjoy and savor a life experience which was a grand departure from lives with little or no chance for change. You therefore provided a doorway to a grand adventure with a friend that I was always, and will always, be rooting for. Know that your service to others has been immense and a real gift! God bless you as you move forward! Mark

David, I would like to thank you for the last 6 years on a great peek into life on a narrow-boat, and allowing us from the USA to tag along on what its like. My mom spent about 30-45 days on the canal back in the mid 80's. She really enjoyed herself, and I still have the full collection of all the drink coasters that she got at every pub she stopped at along the way. I wish I would have known exactly what her route was and were she actually went. She passed away 15 years ago and never talked much about that trip, and when she did I was a teenager that knew everything and to young to really care. Congratulations and best of luck on your future voyages! While its sad to see the "end of an era", I know as a boat owner the best days are the purchase and sale dates of your boat! 😁👍 I can't wait until the next venture begins! The best boat to be on is someone else's boat for sure. Its much cheaper and easier to go boating! As the old saying goes when visitors are on board remind them that the boat don't run on "thank you's!"

A frisky goose, a sheep spray painted by some ambitious hooligans, a sentinel canal dog, friendly volunteers, a shy heron, a little bump and grind, a soggy tunnel and unsolicited "advice" from other cruisers, indeed a trip down memory lane! Great vlog my friend, it truly has been an interesting experience.👍

Last one. I have really enjoyed your journeys. Now that you and the Foxes guys are done, I will be skipping my narrowboat fix (there is no US equivalent of this) but I really enjoyed learning about your country, your canals and all of the things you discussed. I will finish by saying I saw the Pink Floyd CD's in the first video I watched of yours, and decided I had to listen, as you must be a very thoughtful and insightful person to listen to them and others of that ilk. So my deepest thanks for your work. So long, and Thanks for all the Fish.

A wonderful vlog to bring this chapter of your life to a close. It was, as usual, superb viewing and listening. The sound of the boat, the commentary and the sounds of nature with no distracting music all combine to make a truly relaxing 20 mins or so of viewing pleasure. I wish you all the best for the changes coming and look forward to whatever you produce and publish in the future. Thank you for all the vlogs you have done so far, all very much appreciated and eagerly awaited each week. Cheers.

Whilst I know that David intends to continue making canal themed videos I am tinged with sadness to think that yet another liveaboard has left the canals. One by one my favourite canal channels have left the waters ( Journey with Jono, Narrowboat Experience, Foxes Afloat …………). Thank you David for sharing your canal life with us. I definitely look forward to watching your new adventures. 🫳👍👏👏👍😀 Andrew

I never thought any of them, especially Foxes Afloat and David, would EVER become landlubbers again. I am still a bit shell shocked. Only thing I can think of, that set them thinking, was the Covid pandemic!

It's only been in the last few months that I discovered Cruising the Cut. After watching a handful of videos about the joys of canal life, of which I have had limited but some experience, I set about watching about 250 of the videos every day until I had caught up. It was my escape from the real cruel world. For that I am so very grateful to David. His inimitable style and humour just hits the spot every time and has helped me get though some difficult periods recently. Yes, there are thousands of canal themed videos out there now but there is only ONE Cruising the Cut! It came as quite a shock when I heard David was selling up. It isn't just about selling a boat, it's more emotional to viewers I think because it's about giving up a uniquely expressed lifestyle that is so different from the world we experience these days. I would like to thank David for all the joy that these films have given me and for sharing them with us all. I sincerely hope everything works out back on dry land and our journey with that unfolding story continues, I'll certainly keep following CtC and Vandamonium. But I do secretly hope, as I'm sure others do too, that David, as others have done after a break from the canals, returns to our waterways as Captain once again. But for now, thank you so very much David, Captain, my Captain!

You definately touched on why I loved being on a boat…the pace of life and being closer to nature….and away from idiots, although there are plenty of those wherever we go! Keep up the good work!

At 12:50 Cracks Hill The hill was created during the last ice age, when melt water deposited material underneath the ice. Once the ice sheet retreated it left a pile of silt and rock behind, forming the hill. More properly it is a moraine formed from the debris left by the retreating glacier. Regards from Denmark

Even if you are not I'm sure loads of us are feeling sad that this journey has ended...I am ploughing my way through Vandemonian though. You (along with the Foxes) have inspired me to buy my own narrowboat (even though I've thought about it for years but never got around to it) which I will take possession of in a couple of weeks. Mildly ironic that both you and the Foxes are now landlubbers again! Many, many thanks for your wit and warmth and excellent professional videos over these last years...so much great information beautifully delivered.

A yank here who has enjoyed your videos very much over the years. We’re actually here doing a month on the canals after my wife and I recently retired. Our last trip was 15 years ago and I confess that the physical activity involved is a lot harder than last time. So, my hats off to you single handing over the years. While two is hard, cruising with just one has to be three times harder! Looking forward to your upcoming new direction. I think it’s the right move.
