    One of the best tip someone gave me many years ago is "always have your hand inside the curve when you draw one."

    Maestro! I have writing all your recommendations on my journal so I can have then present. I also want to congratulate you for incredible mastery of drawing, few people on earth achieve such ability, one of the best skills since cave painting. Today with the computers people forget the exceptional capacity of manual control and dedicated observation. Thanks.

    Love this💕💕 request: more statues please! I am trying to find your statue lessons and having trouble! Is there a play list? I absolutely love how you draw statues! I just spent my morning hour trying to draw our local civil war dude and it’s so hard! Base angles🤪 but it has so much potential with the strong grays and early morning light and the tree behind. Very nostalgic and heroic. Please help with proportion and statues, pedestals in two point perspective!

    This is an early video of mine, but it’s on topic. I don’t really draw statues as main subjects though, just as background support. 😀 kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4Sfm49yY5eTm9o.htmlsi=Ry9QvP-DSYoGsarW

    Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! I wrote down all you said but there's no 23rd point! Point 22 is about hatching in separate lines, not zig-zags and Point 24 is about hatching starting at the most important edge... Did I miss something?

    i know i should draw from my shoulder, but if its a lots of lines, my shoulder tends to dislocate lol 😆 so drawing from the wrist it is for me😛

  • @stephentraversart

    @stephentraversart

    If the lines are quite short, I draw from my elbow, as it’s more practical and quicker and gives the same benefit as from the shoulder for longer lines. But I lock my wrist into place. Of course, if you’re happy with your straight lines, there’s no problem 😀

    Thanks for the tips! If only I can remember to use the small gap for line continuation... Your point (#16 ?) about 'drawing lines with rulers' applies as well to almost all of the drawing 'aids' available in digital art (at least in the software I use) - they all look very different from regular strokes - it takes more work to make a line, curve or flood-fill from a tool fit into the rest of the drawing .than to do the strokes to begin with (what seems to save time in this case just eats it away or if you leave it, it makes the drawing look uneven.)
