$25 KL Tower Observation Deck 🇲🇾 (worth it?)
Today we go on a stroll from Central Kuala Lumpur to KL Tower. I share with you the differences that I've noticed here in Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia. Mostly how here in Kuala Lumpur, you don't see a lot of statues or monuments commemorating their independence as you do in Indonesia. When you go just about anywhere in Indonesia, you see their national heroes enshrined in statues all over the island, and rightfully so, they should be proud of their fight for independence.
I get lost and make a couple wrong turns but I eventually find my way to the KL Tower. I pay $25 to go to the very top observation deck. Luckily it was a clear day I could get a nice view of the city. I kinda regret not going at night though as I'm sure seeing the city lights light up is pretty cool.
More videos from Kuala Lumpur to come, stay tuned!

We don't build statues of living beings such as animals n humans.... Our way of remembering the malay heroes is to erect plaques with their name on it or built memorials like clock towers etc, there are also sculptures of keris etc to remind us of our malay heritage.... If not all those there are historical centres/museums dotted all over Malaysia dedicated to a certain hero. Or we take care of their graves...

Luar biasa Nick, I love your vlogs !
one of the main reasons we dont really erect statues in our cities especially statues of a human, its actually is forbidden in islam, for example, if there is a human statue or animal statue in our house, we been taught that the angels will not enter the house as long as the statues there....so in msia we dont really encourage these types of statues...if you have time please do watch "Mat Kilau" movie, i believe its still play on cinemas.its a story about one of a malay warrior...hope you will watch the movie, it does explain abit about the malay struggles...bye

There r definitely not any statue or sculpture in relations to d independence of Malaya, Malaysia, perhaps d national monument, Tugu Negara is d best, n d flag pole, one of d tallest in d world in d independence square is also reminding Malaysian of their freedom.
For muslims here, having statues is like idol worshipping. Something like that. So very few eg kuching town centre, langkawi eagle, national monument and all temples.

Actually we don't build statue for independent commemoration but most cities/town did build something like clock tower. Building statue is not our tradition as also bad example of Islamic value. @ImmortalLay 100 billion usd debt to dutch is not true :), Until the end of 1965, the Indonesian government's debt burden reached 2.36 billion US dollars, more than double the debt inherited from the Netherlands from the 1949 Konferensi Meja Bundar. Around 59.5 percent of this debt was loans to communist countries (M.C. Ricklefs, History of Modern Indonesia). 1200-2008, 2008: 602) Suharto followed in the footsteps of his predecessors in terms of debt. His government continued to borrow money, although no longer from the Eastern Bloc, but from the Western Bloc, especially the United States. And the amount of debt as a "trade" for the recognition of sovereignty has been continuously passed on to the next Indonesian presidents, until now. The end of Sukarno's Old Order, whose symptoms began to appear after the events of the September 30th Movement in 1965, did not pay off Indonesia's debts. Suharto as the next president of the Republic of Indonesia must bear the burden of the inherited debt. Malaysia: the state debt quoted from The Star, the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia revealed that its state debt until the end of June 2022 reached RM 1.045 trillion or equivalent to 240 billion USD

@ImmortalLay i'm not learning from google, prefer to read a book :) sometime i like to watch a talks and lecture from Malaysia Professor about Malaysia Independent from British, I've learn much from the Professor of Malaysia, but yeah its not "our" debate its just an internal Malaysia debate, its good to learn History:)
We are not just a country, but much about living and progressing as a family, THE MALAYSIAN FAMILY. So, rather than wasting our time and resources on building statues, which may later become the source of disintegration to our beloved family which comprises of the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans etc, so it is wise for us to celebrate our heroes by continuing their fight which is to make MALAYSIA great. If you want to see DEAD STATUES in Malaysia, ofc you cant...! Because in Malaysia, we build a living walking monuments and that is us The Malays, The Chinese, The Indians and so on. We don't reminisce on our past heroes by building statues because WE ARE THOSE HEROES, WE CONTINUE THEIR LEGACY BY STAYING UNITED THROUGH TIME. When we die, our sons and daughters, and the future generation will continue the legacy of MALAYSIAN HEROES! Just like any other heroes, we are struggling to progress, but thru our imperfection, is what you see the MALAYSIA NOW! And moving forward, we continue to flourish so long as we are not turned into monuments!
