    Be me as a kid, 12 years old. Got this fucking idea to start training a backflip from seeing this cool ass tricking video from like 2008. I train it hard on trampoline, then I move to a elevated place and gradually move lower, meanwhile every time going through the same fear process. After weeks of daily effort, I got my backflip down to my knees on flat ground. For two weeks I do it every day, 20 times per day, always landing on my knees. Then finally I got one to squat and was so proud of myself. Doing the impossible. These guys did it in 10 minutes. ps. I know they got years of explosive training and immense athleticism, but still..

    dont forget that they had help. Having a spotter helps a lot. The biggest part of the backflip is fear. With a spotter you can just practice the movements straightaway. It also help that they have the vertical elevation of a fkin 240lbs of frog muscle

    Like Brian says: keep training speed and explosiveness (explosivity?) along with strength and you stay athletic. I did something much like wushu 20 years ago. Strength training now. I'm able to do a lot of things that I thought were lost to me. Double hurricane kick and landing in a split might be a thing of the past, but I'm getting a lot of agility back.

    Went from a walker to running in the last year. From 250 lbs to 213 lbs since Feb 5th and from 31% body fat to to 22.5% in about 120 days. Just did a back flip on a trampoline on Father's Day for my daughter. I have rods and screws in my back, but I want to do a back flip on the ground. I live in SC. Seriously, I need this in my life, but be responsible - I really don't want to be back on a walker and assisted walking devices for another decade of my life... so, tell me to kindly F off and crush my dreams if I would be risking that. That's what friends are for.

    Thanks for doing this with these guys this is awesome! In that drill where they jump up and you push their shoulders, cue them to draw their knees up to their eye level. Be careful the first time you do that with them because there'll be a lot more power than just their shoulders locking from throwing their arms.

    Although I'm nowhere near an expert on flips I have practised several times without instruction, in my opinion the best place to attempt a flip is at a beach with sand dunes. The beach near me has dunes close to 30 feet tall and you can almost leap all the way to the bottom, beaches are versatile practise grounds with many obstacles such as walls, tidal barriers, docks etc. and there is no better natural cushion than soft, dry sand.

    Just a quick question, would practicing a backflip on a trampoline be a good starting point to then get ur confidence trying it on flat ground? Because I can def imagine myself committing to the going backwards part if I was on a trampoline.

  • @SpydersByte
    @SpydersByte5 жыл бұрын

    nice work, all 3 of them did incredibly well if that was really their first time and I would consider those landings! Doing a backflip standing on the ground is orders of magnitude harder than doing one on a trampoline or diving board but as the last guy found out, there's a big mental wall to break as far as just turning over backward by itself. If you've done flips on trampolines or diving boards then it becomes much, much easier to do on the ground since you don't have that fear to break through.

    I had a buddy that used to be able to backflip in full football pads. Funny thing is it looks just like Juji doing a backflip lol

    Landing hurts when you are heavy. I even managed to bust a rib during beach volley, landing on the soft soft sand in a clumsy clumsy way. And I'm only 220lbs. PS: I didn't even save the ball.
