24 Hours of Le Mans 2023 - My Trackside Highlights

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here is by far my longest video, and probably the one that was hardest to make. During my trip to Le Mans, I tried my best to document the race from trackside, recording during important events like the race start and finish, or when battles were occurring on the track. I arrived at Le Mans on the evening of Wednesday the 7th of June. Although I first recorded from the night practice session on Wednesday the 7th all the way until the end of the 24 hour race, this video will showcase some of my raw footage and highlights from Hyperpole, and the entire 24 hour race including the build up and finish. I hope you enjoy!

A bit bummed I can’t make it last year or this year. Tough being from the US and having school to pay off. But 2025 w the Valkyrie’s should be all systems go! I’m afraid I’m gonna get hooked once I go

I was annoyed I couldn’t go again this year as well! It’s my final year of school and with exams it just wouldn’t have worked. I thought it would be a one time event for me last year but it’s truly hooked me in and I feel like I need to go again. I’m going to do everything I can to go for 2025! Especially to see those valkyries. It’s definitely much easier from the UK than the states, but you’ll love it! Easily my favourite event I’ve ever been to.

What do you want tips on? 2023 was my first year at the race and I am happy to share anything from my experience :) Some very general tips I would have are: - use the transport around the track! I wasn’t familiar with the bus system around the circuit until the end of my trip, and pretty much only walking around such a large circuit for the 4/5 days I was there made it far more exhausting than it needed to be. - use suncream, I definitely got sunburnt the first few days I was there - use earplugs. Generally when I go to racing events, I don’t use earplugs, but you will definitely need some for Le Mans. While a lot of the cars aren’t SUPER loud, some definitely are very noisy, and after long enough exposure to them without earplugs, you will start getting headaches, ear pain, or even feel a little bit sick - race day is very busy, especially for the first few hours. I got to the position I wanted to see the start of the race from (main straight) at 11 am, 5 hours before the start, and I had a lot of trouble finding a good spot because it was already almost completely full. Be well rested and prepared to spend a lot of time sitting around to get a good spot on race day, and expect very very large crowds at pretty much every corner for the first few hours. If you want more specific tips, maybe on viewing spots, food etc just let me know and I’ll be happy to share more!

@Tigerbear62 i was wondering if, with General Admission, you can stay anywhere you like apart of paddock.

@@tfkrazvan with general admission you get amazing access to the track. I had a general admission ticket, so all of the views you see in the video are accessible with general admission. You are even allowed In the different grandstands for the qualifying and practice sessions, they only stop general admission ticket holders from accessing the grandstands during the actual 24 hour race. With general admission you can see pretty much every corner, with the main straight, the entire first chicane until tetre rouge section of the track, Ford chicanes, and Porsche curves, easily accessible by foot. You can also take shuttle buses to Indianapolis/Arnage corner, along with Mulsanne corner. The only area you cannot see with general admission is the mulsanne straight, for safety reasons. In the inner track by the main straight (behind the paddock) there are countless shops, places for food, and car/team exhibitions. There is even a proper Lego store! You can also access the pit lane for a scheduled pit walk, which I believe happens twice during the week, but apart from that the paddock and pits are off limits. Hope this helps!
