Great list. I’ve read most of Toni Morrison this year and will finish in 2024. I need to read Octavia Butler too. The Memory Police has been on my TBR forever! Birdie is on my TBR shelf as well. Lots of good reading to look forward to. 😊💙

The bluest eye is my favourite of the Toni works i've read so far and probably my favourite book of all time. I'm excited for you to read it - it looks like you have a great reading year ahead of you! Also excited to read more about Palestine.

Yes yes and yes... love this! Let me go get my list together also. I thoroughly enjoyed Kindred, and then the series came out on FX and wooo that was decent but the book was 100% better. Pleasantview I also enjoyed. Want to read Hijab Butch Blues Need to finish the Memory Police and oh goodness .... snap! Master of Djinn I've been wanting to read for the longest, may 2024 be the year. I'm on a mission to prioritise all my hardback books and big back books (500+ pages) Happy reading 🙂

Kindred is so good! I also think I read a poetry collection by Fatimah Asghar I loved, didn't know she wrote a novel as well

Yes! She writes poetry usually, but this is her first novel. The writing does look every experimental and unorthodox though, so I'm sure it's influenced by her poetic style.

I read A Master Of Djinn in 2023 and really enjoyed it (I think I reviewed it in a vlog as well). This year I have A Dead Djinn in Cairo which is apparently the first book in the "series". I also want to read more local books this year (though for me it's Jamaica). Also standing in solidarity over at my channel ❤

Kindred is also on my list. Especially after seeing the series from 2022. I don't know how true to the book it was, but I really enjoyed it. So bummed the show got cancelled after one season.
