#230 Bose CineMake AV520 surround sound system repair.
This was a simple fix i thought but became quite a long drawn out hunt for a self induced short circuit, but happily in the end it was found, removed, and I was back to a happy working system

    That's an interesting board layout! I can't think of a reason why anyone would do that, especially with so much room in that area of the board. Thank you for showing us that unique design. Regards, David

    The board is a multilayer and there are caps that just sit on pads connected by via's along with other components as well. So no way of following a connection. When looking for the short it was impossible to work out where any tracks went as none are visible. Not made to be easily repaired. Along with cans that can't be replaced if removed?

    @@AJB2K3 it's not just the music it's the chest thumping bass that i missed. The sub did a fantastic job on rumbles and bang.

    Most of my projects had a use life of 25 years, so had to be easy to fix. :-(

    it was that old assume that bit my bum. i assumed that as they were so close they must be connected. Assume makes an Ass out of u and me.
