I'm Alaskan arctic. I saw this young gentleman years ago. He has grown up and is even better than ever. More disciplined and sharp. I'm a fan. Sometimes in the arctic Alaska, we get Russian radio and we listen. We have friend from Pravadania and other east coastal towns in Russia. Anyway I am happy for the talented young man. The resonance of his voice is absolutely beautiful.

My husband is a musician, music teacher (retired) and sang bass. He was stunned at this young man's vocal development at this age. He commented that it will only get deeper as he ages, likely into his late 20's or even 30's. It is a rare gift to have this quality of singing voice and control as a bass. This is a very gifted young man. What a gift to share with us.

Пересматриваю уже неделю по несколько раз в день. И каждый раз получаю заряд эмоций. Вообще я не очень щедрый на похвалу человек, и считаю, что музыкальный вкус у меня приличный. И Рахманинов мой любимый композитор. И, тем не менее, для меня эта запись настоящее событие, по которому хочется сказать несколько слов. Многие в комментариях пишут про талант Алексея, его наличие несомненно. Но знаете, мне кажется, дело не только и даже не столько в таланте. Талант имеют многие. Даже уникальные характеристики голоса встречаются не так уж редко. Бесспорно значим и вклад учителей Алексея. Но то, что во мне отозвалось, - это его не по годам зрелая личность: эмоциональная полифония, глубокая осознанность, умение проживать и музыку, и текст, быть живым и настоящим, окрашивать эту историю своим честным личным отношением. К сожалению, именно эту способность многие исполнители или не имеют вовсе, или утрачивают очень рано. Тогда живой нерв исполнения замещается штампами, выхолощенными голосовыми модуляциями, сценическими ритуалами, какой-то пошлой формальщиной. Вдобавок люди обрастают комплексами, снобизмом, карикатурной напыщенностью, адским чсв, превращают выступления в галимый чёс по стране, а некоторые и вовсе вваливаются в политику… И непонятно, какой момент становится поворотным. Когда кончается для них это волшебное приключение? И почему оно так кончается. Есть подозрение, что наряду с пользой, серьезный ущерб может нанести и система формального образования. Что слишком многое поддается жесткой унификации, тускнеет какое-то неогранённое и живое начало в созревающей, еще формирующейся личности. Что развитие самой личности направляется по какому-то неправильному курсу. Надеюсь, Алексея эта участь минует. Знаю, чего стоят непрошенные советы, но не могу удержаться хотя бы от нескольких пожеланий. Желаю Алексею обрести свое творческое дыхание. Долгого и захватывающего приключения в мире музыки! И конечно, сам себе желаю обрести еще одно большое музыкальное открытие в новом, сверкающем кристалле индивидуальности. Каким однажды стал, например, Теодор Курентзис. Надеюсь когда-нибудь увидеть и услышать Алексея и Теодора на одной сцене. Удачи вам, Алексей!

In 2017.He sang in his school choir, dressed in dark uniform and they could be brothers...how strange life is. Such a classic Slavic Russian face. Yes, good fortune to you Alexsie Mikhailov, maybe someday we'll see you in 'Prince Igor' or 'Boris Godunov'. His pitch isn't yet exact - he tends to sharp out, but he can correct that.....overall he has fine stage presence & great potential. And yes, the 'ratatat' song with that excellent boy soprano & the Glinka Boys Choir of St. Petersburg, and our Alexsie here, is indeed a very unique & beautiful & moving composition. Even the bumpy & jerky video work is great, & very interesting, too, with a glimpse into a Russian orthodox church. He does indeed have a tendency to sharp the finish of his notes. Alexsie has a gorgeous base tone; with training he could achieve truly competitive levels of refinement. After that, he should take stage instruction. It is in the subtle expressions, glances, the arch of a lip, the sweep of the arm, knowing impendency, and above all else posture, that a star is born. This remarkable, beautiful young man has enormous potential, guided by the right tutors and mentors.

He's a bass-baritone (low baritone/high bass), not a basso profundo (low bass to oktavist). Basso profundos have a deeper pitch and lower tessitura. Vladimir Pasjukov was one of my favourite basso profundos. You can find his rendition of "The Twelve Brigands" here on YT.
