222 Remington, V-Max 40 grain, 330 yard group

Спорт

Zeroing the Arken EPL4 6-24x50 FFP VHR MIL and then shooting a 5-shot group at 330 yards. The results were surprising to say the least.

Thank you for the quick review of the Arken scope. It seems to be a solid value for the price. The triple deuce performed nicely at 300 meters. Thank you for braving the cold and sharing via KZread.

My L46 Sako .222 Rem likes 40 gr Nolsler BT with IMR4198. Also 50 gr with the same powder. My favorite rifle, have owned for 40 plus years.

Nice scope & video. Our weather in north eastern California looks like yours. Currently about 20 degrees F here. I don’t know how that equates to Celsius 😂. 222 is my favorite caliber. Have had one since 72’. No fancy optics though. Fiberglass stock and Canjar trigger helped the 788 Rem. Shoots really well for a 100$ rifle in 72’. I used to use a Lyman All American 10x fine crosshair scope but in 88’ put a Leupold M8 12x on it. Took me awhile to judge distance and holdover after I shot the 10x for so long. I usually sight in at 100 yards about 1.5” high. Hold a little low at 100 a little high at 300 😂. Old school guy here the 10x is on my 17 Rem now. I also have a 204 Ruger, 22-250 and 244 Rem custom but the 222 will always be my #1

Nice setup there Rikard. The .222 is one of my favorites. I like it much more than the .223. My Rem 700 BDL shoots just about anything you put in it very well.

Thanks Dennis 🙂 Yeah, the 222 is a really sweet cartridge. Plus you can find tons of them (Sako, Tikka, Winchester, Remington, Brno, etc) used at very reasonable prices in Sweden. Not that I need that many 😁 For varminting and general plinking its kind of hard to beat 😀 Which bullet do you primarily use in your BDL?

I verry much agree with you concerning the Counter Clock type of turret scopes, I bought a Delta Optics scope from a fellow shooter/hunter, all his scopes were Clock wise and he was shure he would make mistakes during shooting contests and while hunting. You and I share the same logic when dialing the turret, I am glad for that :-)) and to be honest there should not be another way dailing in than this, when you screw out a bolt it goes up, not down, hence the logic. I am curious how manny more clicks you had to give to get on target, please share ? Oh and what kind of thing did you use to cool the barrel ? Thanks for sharing and a happy new year.

Thanks for your feedback 🙂 Nice to hear that you share the CCW logic 😅 After bore sighting I had to come up 12 clicks and 4 to the left to be in the middle at 100 meters. The gizmo is an air mattress pump that I am using for suppressor cooling. It is a bit loud and I have been trying to reduce the speed since it’s unnecessarily fast and loud at the moment.

Hi there. Thanks for your answers, good idea to use the airpump as an barrel aircooler. Wat I obviously NOT clearly mentioned was that I was curious about the 300 meter target and how manny more clicks you had to give to get spot on ? The shooter app did not give you an exact reading. No need to say that I subscribed to your channel...@@NordicRifleman

@@bertcremers3134 I only shot that 5-shot group with 13 clicks on the turret. Will measure its position and see if 14 clicks would be enough or if 15 are needed.
