My grandfather used to work for Hammargrens (fireworks company) that was also distributor for Winchester in Sweden at the time. So my uncle had a Winchester poster in his room in my grandparents house, and this room was kept untouched many years after my uncle moved out. When I went to my grandma as a kid, I went into this room and stepped back in time basically. The Winchester poster was from the 70's I believe and showed six lever actions leaning towards a settler wagon. From that point on the Winchester logo and brand has been imprinted into my brain.

"Triple two mate, triple two." That and the Sako AII are beautiful pieces, well done. Australia
Got the 270 in the AV, in the same condition, considering selling at the right price
Someone is about to be a lucky owner of an awesome 270 then 🙂
@@NordicRifleman unsure what sort of price to put on it thats problem
I’d consider myself a purest in many ways when it comes to milsurps but I’m also a deer hunter and respect the history of these rifles. That said, part of the history is sporterization whether people like to admit it or not. I am a sucker for a tastefully done sporter and quite frankly would love to find a Mauser such as this. I have an all original 1912 Swedish M96 but still find myself drooling over yours! Stunning rifle, perfectly done imo, and a guaranteed shooter
Appreciate your comment 🙂
I've got one of those in 6mm Rem..😅
I had a Sako Hunters Special 300win mag..beautiful gun..I just tried 2 years ago..Don't moose hunt anymore 😢😮😅
OK, I am blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, carry on. GOD bless
Very nice rifle with a problem. The scope is contacting the barrel, which needs to be fixed post haste. Simple fix with some rings or bases. The open sights need to be removed for better scope clarity. Otherwise, it's a nice rig.
Scope is not contacting the barrel. You can slide a strand of hair between scope and barrel 😉
The Creedmoor was a new idea, with a faster twist, higher pressure, and a shorter action, it was improved by new technology, and you also could do the same with the 6.5 ×55, so why have they not, the only one that was available at the time was the Creedmoor with out waiting weeks, but it works and so does the 6.5 ×55 Sweden.
You can easily obtain 2900 fps with a ELD-X 143 in the 6.5 Swede if handloading and using a modern strong action. For a Swedish person there is very little point to get a Creedmoor.
Sako and Tikka forever.
love that Sako.
Beautiful ❤️❤️
I just purchased a cz 527 .222 rem, I hope to get good accuracy like yours. In Brazil it is difficult to find ammunition in this caliber, so I will have to work recharged ammunition, do you have any recommendations?
Not really other than to use quality components 🙂
The neat Leupold compliments that Sako. Nice neat, practical rifle. Love it. 👌. That calibre and rifle will serve you well. Do not change anything on it.
I may have commented before, but your rifle is classic looking with the high-gloss Leupold scope. A great combination to launch 6.5x55 Swedish rounds. Thank you for the review. Your weather looks identical to November weather here in Western Washington State. Cheers.
Thank you for your comment 🙂
Excellent rifle and calibre.
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
Tjenare 😀
That’s a really nice rifle and a great caliber
Sako with US rounds. I have a CZ 222 and use sako 40g. Very accurate, and safe round (balistic tip). I get similar moa
Love my Sako Finnbears. 30-06, 300, 338 Win Mags
You may want to look at Warne detachable scope mounts. They add little to the overall weight and are specifically designed for the Ruger receiver dovetail. With a couple of turns of the levers the No. 1 is instantly returned to it's handy off-hand shooting mode.
The best Caliber for me.Universal.
I had a Winchester featherweight 7x57 years back and without giving it much thought I sold it...I have regretting it ever since. What a beautiful unbeatable cartridge.
I get it as I have myself sold too many gems thru the years 🥺🤦🏼♂️
My M94 and M96 both like the heavy bullets, Sellier and Bellot 156gr SP for the M96 and 160gr Hornady RN in the M94. Devastating on deer. Happy Huntin.
Cool
The real Swedish Mauser actions M94,96,38 built by Carl Gustaf and Husqvarna used a special high quality tough Swedish steel that was better than any German steel. Even the “Swedish” Mausers built in Germany were required to use that steel. Those actions were proof tested to almost 63,0000 psi. With those actions the hand loaded 6.5x55 will leave the 6.5 Creedmoor in the dust, especially with 140 grain and heavier bullets because the bullets can be seated farther out to take full advantage of Swede’s case capacity. I have one of the “Sporterized by Kimber of America Inc., Clackamas OR. USA.” Carl Gustafs Stads M96 built in 1914. Barrel cut to 22”, lathe turned down to a medium sporter contour to eliminate the old military mid-barrel hump. Mounted in a Ramline synthetic stock. Not as aesthetically pleasing as that SAKO but with classic form and very serviceable. It came with a Tasco 2-10x40, which I upgraded to a little bit better something else. All numbers match. Came to me with a bunch of ammunition about 5 or six years ago for $500.00 USC. Great 1MOA shooter even with inexpensive PPU ammunition. For those of you who don’t know the story about the Sporterized by Kimber Swedes you’ll have to look that up. Happy hunting boys and the!😊
Yes some "dont know' anything about a 222
Like those 222s
Beautiful rifle
I have just bought the same rail for my exact rifle and the bolts aren’t big enough to install the rail to the rifle. Did you use bigger screws and drill out the rail?
I have no memory of doing that. It should have been original screws as far as I can remember.
@@NordicRifleman thank you for the reply, im going to get screws to fit the receiver and drill out the rail on the bridgeport at work if the new screw heads won’t counter sink into the rail.
Hello, nice video on a beautiful rifle. What scope mounts and rings do you use or recommend? I've recently picked up a 1976 Ruger No. 1 with nothing but the original bases. Thanks for any and all help.
Hi. I don’t have any recommendation other than using original Ruger rings.

That's a first class Barrel. Good before cleaning, excellent after cleaning. I clean after every shooting, oil the barrel, deoil before the next shooting. So I have every time the same start ( especially for hunting). I had corrosion in several barrels before I changed my system. I use paper tissues on a woolbrush for deoiling ( cheap & good). Greetings
Är det svårt för dig att få tag på 222:er ? Har själv viljat skaffat en för allt från bock jakt till harjakt…
Nej, fullkomligt kryllar av begagnade 222or 👍🏻
Easier to sight and shoot in at 25m and then move to 100y/100m
Wow nice vid..toooo freaking cold wherever you are…love your gun and scope..very jealous..your explaining was very nice…wonderful to see this kind of vid that’s put together sooo nice..thanks…
Thank you for your kind words 🙂
It would be cool if these bullet companies would put a plastic ballistic tip in these bullets .. Nice 'scope... looks to be a fixed power ('old school'). The real velocity is best taken at 100m (if you dare).
How long is the barrel on that Remington?
I think it was stated as 26" but when I measured it (bolt to end of rifling) it was more like 24".
Same here, what thread was factory one?
I used to load my 6.5 x 55 with a Sierra 120 gr Bullet. Cannot remember the powder but I was pushing the bullet between 3000-3100 ft per sec. Killed a hog at over 400 yards and woodchucks at 250 yards with Sierra 85 gr at 3600 ft per sec. ( Winchester Featherweight Model 70 )
Looks like the Ulfborg shooting range ?
No, this is in Sweden 🙂
For that leupold, do you recall what size optilock rings you used? Extra low, low, or medium?
Sorry but I have no idea 😬 Maybe I could measure the height.
Very nice rifle
That is a very nice rifle, the wood looks excellent. And the 6.5 X .55 Swede has taken a lot of deer where I am from, in Southeast Texas.
Since you own one, I would like to learn your take on Sako AV rifles. I just bought one in 30-06. Its serial # runs in the 617XXX like yours in 6.5 swede and the looks are exactly the same. Barrel length is 22.5"ish It is strictly New in Box with all the bells and whistles. I do not know what to do, if use it as a practical hunting rifle or sell it to someone else who will keep it pristine as a collector item.
Well, they are nice rifles for sure 🙂 Besides the 6,5x55, I’ve had them in 7 RM, 338 Win Mag and 375 H&H. I think the 6,5x55 is a bit on the heavy side for that low recoil, while the 375 was a bit too light. I’d imagine that the 30-06 would be basically spot on when it comes to weight vs recoil. If you really like it and the price is ok I would definitely want one myself for all kinds of hunting as the 30-06 is awesome as an all round caliber 🙂
Enjoyed the video, have a .222 TC Encore barrel. It is very accurate for small game and varmints. Take care 👍👍👍
Thank you and take care you too 😀👍🏻
Can I ask you the barrel length on that rifle? 570 mm?
Shoots better than my Sako heavy barrel 22PPC USA and you're using a bipod!! Well done.
Just got myself a new 222 Tikka T3x with sights. Please with the open sights for now. I will probably put one Arken on it too. Have an Arken SH4J, but it’s on my 25-06.
Sounds good - congratulations 🥳😀
