The most realistic war movie ever made, real people, no fake bravery, real emotions, and this masterpiece of soundtracks...

This was a painful, beautiful movie. The soundtrack expresses it completely. I watched it in Russian, trying to brush up on my forgotten language. Yes, it is brilliant.

@@nasnisto2465 So true haha this movie is one of the most beautiful movies I've seen, the movie shows a lot more humanity in those soldiers than others, it shows that trying to be a hero will only get you killed. I have many friends that suffer some sort of post trauma from wars they've been in and it's no joke, movies like this really do spark all those traumatic emotions and it's sad and I hope the best for them because they've seen shit most of us will never see and we should be thankful for them doing it for us.

Of course Hollywood is biased. It's job is to do propaganda. Russians/Germans/Japanese/Vietnamese are always the bad guys. Americans always heroes. Brotherhood (an even better war movie) was totally ignored by them too, although it's far, far better than that crappy Private Ryan.

best war movie ever and thats coming from an australian. very realistic look at the afghan crisis through the eyes of the soviet soldier i love it 2 thumbs up and soundtrack is incredible

I would never watch this movie more than once. I its about 4 years now and I still remember it (and how I felt) too well.

Ребята в не понимаете,у меня Дядя в 9 роте служил,он там на высоте стоял рядом с Мельниковым они друзьями были и он рассказывал то что было,как духи их со всех флангов выжимали.Это ужасно;это страшно..

It 's Good but There was a Mi 24 P in the End which was found in 1989,where the soviets werent in Afghanistan.(You Can see the double barreled cannon(30 MM GshK)

That was less eyebarring than the other modern equipment they used during the film,like the T64BV with era block on,that entered service en mass around 1985,also soviets never took it to Aghanistan officially only T55s,62s.Also they were a little bit too much AK-74s in the movie,everyone and their mother had them.

Yeah it’s really sad and depressing

Music is awesome! That said, the movie was very good. But being based on actual events is a bit far fetched. How? The real 9th company wasn't destroyed! It suffered four or five causulties. Stayed in radio contact, and the soviet helis showed up 10 minutes into the fire fight. Rating this movie? On par with Hurt Locker, just below Stop Loss, and above Stripes. Kinda like the Soviet Union's version of Platoon.
