22 Hour Long Layover in Incheon Airport | Korean convenience store food, free Transfer Lounge
My K-ETA was not approved in time, so I was stuck in Incheon Airport (Terminal 2) for 22 hours on my way back to Malaysia from New York. A little bummed that I didn't get to spend some time in Seoul, but I made the most out of my time in the airport and manifested a trip (upcoming video hehe)!

This must have been a long time ago because I was there last week and everything was open. The showers were open from 0630 and closed from 1000 to 1100 for cleaning. The towel at 7-11 was about $4 dollars. The Starbucks was really packed and the Hanwoo beef burger at the Lotteria Burger stand was really good. Until the end of 2024 a K-ETA is not longer required and I could have just entered S. Korea for 90 days with my US Passport.

I have this lay over every year when i travel to my final destination. Here's a tip. Rent an Air BnB somewhere in Incheon. Go try a restaurant. Sleep early and wake up early for your next flight. See if you can change your layover to around 30-36 hour layover. That's better. Every year, I see a new small piece of Unseo. In about 5 years i might get to know the neighborhood well 😂. Seoul is a bit far, and I'm worried about missing my morning flight if i go out that way. Take the train. It’s like 1 to 2 euros or US dollars one way. Fast and super cheap. 100% safe.

That's such a great idea! I wanted to go out to Seoul, but the K-ETA was required to leave the airport at that point of time and mine wasn't approve in time :(

@NaomiNg yours wasn't approved? Oh wow, that sucks. Well, now you don't need it. You can do it, and you don't have to fill out that health card, but Keta costs money, and filling out the card is free and fast. Sounds like you went when things were still strict with covid-19. Last year was the 1st time I didn't need keta. Good luck!!

It was back in October 2022, where there was an influx of applications. So mine was approved 2 weeks later lol I went to Seoul in April 2023, so it all worked out fine. Nice that you no longer need a K-ETA! Unfortunately, Malaysian passport holders still require it.
I love Incheon Airport, in my opinion it’s one of the best Korea airports in the world or is number 1 in the world than any airport! but here in the American I wish they have airports like this:( but I really enjoy the airport very much everytime I come to Korea almost many times 🇰🇷👌✨ (also nice vlog & keeping up the best to come) 🙌🏼

Matina Lounge does not have a shower, you can use the free one at the Transfer Lounge if it's open. The entrance to Matina Lounge was around RM96 (approx. USD20), bought as an additional service to my flight ticket on Trip.com

Question, what size is your carryon luggage? Do they check the carryon measurements? I have a flight next year since you’ve gone through all the process it would be helpful to know what to use for a carryon luggage. Thank you.

Hi! This is the American Tourister Ellen Spinner 55/20 TSA, it's 55×36x24cm. The carry-on baggage should be the size as recommended by the airline, otherwise you'll have to check it in. I use the carry-on for the things I'll need during a layover (i.e. spare change of clothes, tech accessories, travel-size toiletries).
What kind of camera do you use? The quality is great!

K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) is somewhat like a visa/permit to enter the country.
Hii❤❤❤
@NaomiNg
8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching :)
Kind of stupidly bureaucratic that they require K-ETA for those who are already at the airport and in transit. The point of a pre-authorization I figured was to avoid dangerous people (e.g. terrorist risk), or people likely to be denied entry from traveling to the country (avoiding the process of returning the traveler). Once there, immigration officers should be capable of making appropriate judgments regarding entry eligibility (one would think even better than whoever is adjudicating K-ETA applications). But again, the immigration rules at this airport (and maybe in South Korea in general) are overly bureaucratic. A pilot KZreadr had to stay in the airport (due to COVID entry restrictions) because he arrived as a passenger to fly a couple days later, whereas if he had arrived as crew he could have entered Korea. I had to stay overnight at this airport once inside the terminal, as my connecting flight to Tokyo was delayed due to Typhoon and re-scheduled for 6:00AM departure, but since the exit immigration checkpoint wouldn't be open in time to make that flight, no one on the flight was allowed to leave the terminal (unless you wanted to take an even later flight). And it was also not possible to leave and return the same evening (while exit immigration and security was still open) because the flight departure was the next day (according to KE staff). Despite the fact that for late night after-midnight departures a next-day departure date is no problem. Apparently this situation wasn't that unusual at that airport (this was 2010)
