Another exorbitantly well-made video. It's a pleasure to look at your posts. Clean construction. Facts are presented briefly and precisely. Excellent pictures with harmonious background music. Authentic presenter who you immediately like and like. I'm glad you're on the right track with your diabetes. Regarding the Z6 III, I think the point of the in-camera interface via NX Studio with the flexible colors is still too underrated. I think Nikon consciously observed the market and recognized what contributed significantly to Fujifilm's success. With Picture Control, Nikon had an early opportunity to give Jpegs their own look directly from the camera. It was only possible to adjust too little in the important area of colors. Technically, Nikon overtook Fujifilm extremely quickly and has now moved ahead when it comes to almost finished images straight from the camera. A Nikon Zs would really be a blessing. Hope Nikon brings the camera.

I realize that nothing is really a need for me since I’m not doing it for professional work. Being in my 40s, I need to take my health more serious. As a Zf shooter, I have to add two advantages for the Z6 III. Improved ergonomics. I still find the exposure compensation dial etc. awkward in the Zf and the placement of the front dial is not optimal. The Z6 also has a 2nd function button next to the lens mount. Number 2: setting memory banks (U1/2/3) makes life better when needing quick changes (e.g., when switching specific lenses).

  • @BokehTherapy

Jack, love your reflections on life at 40, trickling down to your perspective on the Z6III. And yes, your pictures as well. Glad your results came out fine. That must be a huge relief. Apart from all the know-it-all responses to the new Z6 that has not even hit the shelves yet, I have for the first time in my life become an early adaptor. Having had a loving relationship with the first gen Z6, I was looking forward to the updated AF, low-light performance, viewfinder and a more articulate screen - though I could have easily continued with what I got. Time will be the judge. I always liked the overall Z6 package as a whole and my personal user experience. Let's see where it will go from here. I loved this eloquent, advice-packed video, as usual--yours is my new fav. YT photo channel. So glad your blood work is back to normal. I'm itching to get the Zf, as an enthusiast travel and landscape photo shooter (no videos), but the main thing holding me back from buying is the lack of great Z-mount lenses that combine great IQ with a satisfying clicky aperture ring and moderate to compact size, with the fine tactile feel of the wonderful vintage AI lenses that keep the overall weight and size down to a manageable burden for aging backs. I'd love to see AF focus rings with a clutch and depth of field scale for manual focus, ideally with hard stops. If Nikon doesn't license lenses to Sigma for their elegant, light Contemporary i -series for Z mount, I wish they would make their own "classic" series lenses with aperture rings, perhaps with more compact f/2 aperture designs (like Leica's 'and Fuji's "crons"). And we especially need a much better IQ & reasonably sized 28mm lens on the menu. Once an array of excellent moderate-sized classic lenses are introduced, then yes, Nikon should add a fine ZS rangefinder camera, with the new Z6III EVF.

Such a great video, love the story telling aspect. A close family member had a similar health issue and he eats clean and exercise so you're right about putting in the work. The new nikon camera looks impressive but I went back to basics, I have the r6mk2 and it's amazing but it's heavy and not fun to use on a daily basis. I was thinking of getting one of those fuji cameras but decided wanted to stick with canon. I got an obsolete system the m6mk2, small compact and pretty amazing eventhough it came out in 2019. The best camera is the one I use and I'm loving the small form factor and pancake lens over those f1.2 lens

However, I'm considering selling the ZF because the flip-out screen is a deal breaker for me. Jack, Yet another very clever and fresh take on grappling with the "Is it the right camera for me?" decision. And more visual poetry? Yes, bring it on! ;-) On the more serious stuff, diabetes. My wife and I have both had to deal with our respective family-inherited silent threat. Both of us serious athletes and very uber-healthy eaters. All was fine until we each hit around our 45-50 year mark. More radical changes to diet helped for a bit. But after a couple more years my wife had to begin daily medication. And in time, she's had to take additional/different meds. Point is, we all have to keep monitoring it over time. And if/when the time comes when diet and activity are not enough and medication is needed, then just do it and keep moving forward. It's about going the distance and squeezing as much juice out of this life that the gods will give us. Best of luck, Craig

I join everyone else in congratulating you on your good results! I'm a fellow Zf owner, converted from Nikon DSLRs and SLRs. (I have an F100 somewhere that was my favorite camera until i got my D800.). Needless to say, that Z6iii looks fantastic. But I came to same conclusion that it's just shy of what I really want. I don't shoot sports but I do prefer a larger body when I shoot for a client. So, while I like shooting the Zf for personal work either the Z8 or Z9 will be more effective for me. What's more likely is that the next version of Z7, Z8, or Z9 will present a more compelling use case for me. I really enjoyed watching your video. I have carried on about wanting a Z6iii for so many years that I ended up with a Zf and Z8. I rarely shoot at more than 4 frames a second and the Z8 covers that. Pre getting those I was a dual Z6 and Z6ii in a harness. The 6's and Zf trump the Z8 for high ISO shooting by a lot so I was contemplating the 6iii to partner the Zf for low light events but at $1500 more for the 6iii over the Zf when for my use they perform almost identically so .....

Thanks for the Z6III overview. I also don't need the new features, especially as I never do video (would like to try it though)! The ZF should have: rangefinder-style body, 33Mp-40MP sensor (24MP would also be ok partially stacked would be ok but not a must). B&W Switch, same or better build than the ZF, the EVF of the Z6III, the tilt screen of the Z8, a CF and SD card slot. It should ship with the 26mm as a kit (though I already have it)-it simply is sharper wide open and more contrasty then the 40/28mm. Even better would be a new 35mm F2 Z with an aperture ring. Would pay about 3k for this. No need for an optical viewfinder, too expensive.

Thanks Jason, you’re the first one I’ve heard who likes the flip screen - glad it’s useful for you! A combined tilt and flip seems to be the only way to please everyone. I am a sucker for the retro design of the Zf, and am still considering the Z6III but it’s not essential for my workflow. Too expensive at launch for something I don’t need right now - let me know if/when your Z6III arrives!

@@BokehTherapy As always I will be buying from my local camera store and they just messaged me today that they got some in. My Z6II went in a river last summer (tighten those tripods people!)…it still works, but I can only turn it on and off by putting in and taking out the battery (to Nikon this was unrepairable). I agree the price point is a bit steep but I’m trying to justify it currently. 📸😎

I’m in the don’t need camp. Undoubtedly it’s a great camera, but I don’t think that a $4500 AUD camera body is actually ‘mid-range’ as the marketing would have us believe - that’s a big chunk of change for most enthusiasts. I doubt it offers half as much again as a Zf, with most of the new features (though nice) not required for my use case at present.

Telling viewers that the 4k 120 1.5x crop has become just normal expectation, is wild. Millions of mirrorless cameras with no crop have been sold to everyday recreational shooters. It's such a ridiculous sentiment of assuming we will eventually "grow into our cinematic capabilities" with this gear. Even worse, we barely even shoot as we all originally planned to, but you'd still have to pry these cameras from our cold dead hands because we swear one day that we will need full frame 4k60 / 4k120 with no crop.
