I would love to see the Rapid Dragon system in game from the C17's and such used in a battle. I don't know how hard it would be for CH to bring it in.

@@Wyomingchief I just re-watched the Taiwan C-130 video and good call, I somehow missed that one and it's nice to see the pallet drop, although the pallet drop just turns into the missiles spawning rather than seeing the individual missiles pop out of them. Either way that's a pretty good work around for a all the non core game assets. With how good ZHs mods are and the continuing improvements to DCS I wouldn't be surprised if we see a verbatim animation in the near future... And the accompanying negative comments from Russian and CCP bots lmao.

apparently theres rumors of a new J31 variant called the J31B that is larger and carries 4x PL10s in ventral weapons bays on top of the 4x PL15s in the main weapons bay. This would be a massive increase in firepower if true.

MiG-29K carries 8 missiles, not 6. Maybe there's a way to change the amount of sticks to the IRL number

That was a nail biter!! I freaking love the huge carrier strike group battles. So much activity on a variety of different levels, it's nonstop action. I have to say, this was a surprise to me, I thought the Chinese had this one in the bank, but this outcome goes to show that anything can happen in a battle on such a scale with so many infinite variables that affect the outcome!! Damn fine mission as always Super Cap!! I'm not gonna lie, I have been reading way more about proposed UK naval doctrine after watching the UK fleet perform so well in the past missions, and I really think that you guys are onto something with the planned strategy!! It's all about swarms in the future of warfare for anyone who has paid even moderate attention to recent wars and conflicts around the world. The future is lower cost but still effective munitions and drones that can be deployed in such quantities that they can deplete and overwhelm any current modern air defense system, and I think the UK are working on exactly that with a carrier strike group in mind. If they can muster a stouter air defense capacity on their ships with more capacity for all varieties of their protective SAMs alongside the offensive strategy, I think they could go toe to toe with any fleet in DCS.

Excellent! I was going to suggest this matchup. Next how about China versus a coalition fleet with a smattering of vessels from around the world? Perhaps two small carriers UK & France?

about two days ago the Shenyang aircraft corporation released a promo video showing a J-31B naval fighter with side weapon bays that each house 2 IR short range missiles. I can't say if it's gonna happen but the J-31B is gonna have around 8 missiles.

Shtrom would be 2035-2040 at the earliest and we don’t know enough about other future weapons for that far in the future to make a full war game, hell Shtrom doesn’t even have a nailed down design yet.

this wargame just shows the limitation of DCS AI pretty well. they do lots of weird things like J35s giving up air superiority and circling around the enemy missile without shooting it.

Chinese Carrier Group with 6x Type 055 Vs USCG + British Carrier Group Ps., If these battles are taking place in 2027-2029, wouldn't the USCGs have HALO missiles? Correct me if I'm wrong. There is also the UCAV/UAV independent/wingman aircraft, (Ex., X-47B) although we dont really know a timeframe till when those will enter service/be battlefield effective. It might be anywhere from 2027 to 2035 (F/A-XX is ~2035 I believe) and/or beyond. Also, if were using the best possible loadouts for each Carrier Group, wouldnt the US have their ship launched LRASMs instead of the Block V TLAMs? I know the TLAMs have more range, but the engagement is occuring at a 220 mile distance, so LRASM would make more sense (atleast in my opinion). There is also the EA-18G, but I understand if it is not possible/too difficult to incorporate that into DCS. Also, since it's 2027-29, wouldnt the USCGs have their HELCAP 300 kw+ lasers from the HELSI program on each destroyer (correct me if I'm mistaken), not to mention the already existing ODIN and HELIOS? The Russian main AWACs is the An-50. They were developing the Yak-44E for naval use, but it was scrapped when the Soviet Union collapsed.

You should include the refitted Kirov Class battlecruiser in these videos, escorting the Kuznesov. 80 AshM's and a load of AA missiles.

Improved SU 33 is likely to be an addition on Russian carrier after its refit is completed

Two type 055 is reasonable considering they only have 8 total ... figure one in port being refit, one for training, leaves them 6 ... so I think the most you would see as of now would be 3 max.

Another batch of 8 are being built, 2 are already launched. so by 2027 probably 16 will exist.

The Chinese are no longer using radar absorbing matting in their naval stealth aircraft. They'll be relying only on a radar absorbing paint/coating. Basically, they will be a lot less stealthy than F-35s.

as for 6x Type 055s being OP. Maybe you could swap out the YJ21s with more YJ18s and see how that goes.

I expect as soon as the Chinese destroyer got hit, the others decided they were vulnerable and started maneuvering to avoid the next barrage of ASMs.

The programing should fire the missiles in such way that they arrive at the maximum SAM range at more or less the same time.

to anyone complaining about the 055s, China only has 8 ships. They only plan to build 8 more. putting 75% of their fleet of super-boats in one place, while at theoretical war with a peer power, is a fantastically dumb way to ask to get nuked. There's a reason US CSGs didn't sail around with five Ticos.

My only problem with that is that the Chinese YJ-21 is most likely over-modelled in DCS as compared to real life, so I don't want to draw too much attention to it TBH.

​@@grimreapers I don't think it's over-modelled, I think missile strikes are gonna be the thing in the next big naval war. Aircraft got converted to missile carriers themselves. What is the point of launching tiny missiles from an aircraft instead of bigger missiles from a ship? You need even more space and $ to launch and operate aircraft to begin with. Convert the huge carriers to missile carriers with range longer than the effective aircraft range. The only real utility the carrier provides is the AWACS. Even that can become some kind of vtol drone and you can have multiple to cover the same area. Another thing to consider is that all of these overwhelmingly expensive missiles can and will be equipped with nukes. So, a single missile can take out one ship and disable every other ship around it.

Idk why. but I keep thinking ONIKS is "ZOINKS". I'll no doubt add something post video in an edit but that's all for now

I think the Zircon is supposed to be up to mach 9 with an impact at m4.5-m5 (at certain points the air just gets too dense to go faster). Although if it is possible (not sure), the missile should be flying mach 4-5 range, but at a medium-altitude flat trajectory. This would actually give a smaller reaction time, because an enemy ship would only see the missile at ~100nm and give it much less time to react. Unfortunately, the Zircon suffers from success in DCS, because all of it's best attributes cannot be properly modeled and without them it just isn't that good. It cannot fly higher than enemy air defense can reach and come directly down (some sources have it >80 degrees angle to target), it cannot fly variably in hypersonic mode and move to a mach3-4 low-observable mode, and it can't really maneuver in a trajectory to "dodge" enemy missiles. All things claimed by various sources to varying reliability.

SAM system is so over modelled in DCS. When HHQ-9 and navalized S-400/S-350 shoot down dozens of Zircon and YJ-21 reliably is when you know something is wrong in the simulation. At least it makes the fight last more than 5 minutes lol

I'm not sure what u mean Russian nor Chinese tech is to be slept on. Plenty of countries use the s-300 and s-400. And it's shown it's use during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russians are literally known for the quality and capability of their air defense systems. And all the Chinese tech That was used in this video has never seen battle so you would neither know whether it is good or bad.

@@kurousagi8155 we must not be watching the same war I have heard from American news agency of their air defense systems failing to shoot rockets and missiles down. But No I have not heard any reports of Russian air defense failing to intercept attacms or storm shadow on a regular basis. My either American News agencies nor Independent ones .This isn't me denying that some aren't getting through I'm positive some of them are getting through but you're making it seem as if this is happening on a daily basis and Russia can do nothing about it. They have already proved multiple times during this war is there air defense systems come upon a threat that they are struggling to shoot down they'll adjust. the same way they did with himars and it's glmrs. Russian air defense may not be doing good in your eyes but they definitely aren't doing bad.

Based upon the costs it was a Russian victory. Plus they severely damaged a second Chinese ship. I don’t think that was a draw.

Cap, you should just fire the rest of the GR and just make carrier battlegroup battles for the forseeable future. I kid of course, but this entire series has been fantastic, and all the more interesting and less frustrating without humans doing human things and messing up the 'science' by going after the win. Best decision you ever made was to keep them out of these types of battles and let them do the ones they do best.

I'm sure it's a great battle but one that I won't bother to watch. Russia doesn't have an aircraft carrier. It's as interesting as carrier group vs alien mothership, where you just imagine attributes to this unrealistic entity. Probably fun to do, just not my cup of tea. Realistic scenarios are informative and fun to watch.
