2027 US Carrier Group vs 2027 Chinese Carrier Group (Naval Battle 131) | DCS
Ойындар
Welcome to the first in our latest series of Naval Carrier Battle. We start with 2027 US Carrier Group vs China Carrier Group.
The US use AIM-260 missiles from their stealth F-35 fighters and MAKO hypersonic and Tomahawk subsonic anti-ship missiles. The Chinese use their YJ-21 ballistic hypersonic and YJ-12 and YJ-18 supersonic anti-ship missiles
My apologies for my terrible voice in this video, I had hoped to regain my health before starting these new naval battles, but it just wasn't to be :(

yeah, my dad worked for the Fincantieri shipyard in Marinette, WI / Menominee, MI (Marinette Marine) until he retired a few years ago. He was the chief weight estimator on the R/V Sikuliak for the University of Alaska before moving to structures on the Lockheed single-hull LCS. They're now working on the follow-on FFG (Frigate, Guided Missile) that won FFG(X), which will become the Constellation-class frigate. BTW Cap ( @GrimReapers ), that's important info if you want to do a 2029 battle, as the US Navy expects the Constellation to be delivered in 2026 and come into commission in 2029, with deliveries and commissions coming in as fast as they lay keels. They laid the keel down for FFG-62, USS Constellation, on 12 April. After that will come 63 (USS Congress), 64 (USS Chesapeake), 65 (USS Lafayette), 66 (USS Hamilton), and the as-yet-unnamed FFG-67. All of these plus the next 6 are slated to be stationed at Naval Station Everett on the Puget Sound northwest of Seattle, Washington, on the Pacific Rim. A little bit of history for you: among the first six frigates in the US Navy inventory, starting in 1797 were the USS Constellation (#2), the USS Chesapeake (#4), and the USS Congress (#5). The others were the United States (#1), the Constitution (#3), and the President (#6). Constellation was the ship who fought against and captured the French frigate Insurgente in 1799, marking the first major naval victory of the US Navy. In 1800, she fought against the French frigate Vengeance in 1800, and while Vengance was not captured or sunk, she was so badly damaged that her captain intentionally ran her aground to keep from sinking. The original Constellation was scrapped, but her replacement of the same name (keel laid in 1854) is in museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

Two Chinese pilots defected and landed in Norway.
I love these GR video's., but the real world version of this battle would be TWO US carrier groups versus ONE Chinese one. Or THREE. The US Navy does not believe in "fighting fair" when they can fight with overwhelming force.
Me likey these fleet battles 👍
The main Warhead of a hypersonic missile is the Kinetic energy of the missile itself, it looks like DCS added kinetic energy of the Mako.
i know that you can't do anything about it, but the way that the aircraft for both sides fight at knife fight range is so infuriating

Cap, love the channel. If you’re looking for more content maybe look into reading some of the tipping point books? It’s very Chinese /USA centric scenario with multiple set ups that could possibly happen in real life. Thought of you guys as I was reading the books. Some examples: two Arleigh Burke’s doing a fonop near the South China Sea and getting accidentally fired upon by shore based missile’s, type 55 Chinese destroyers trying to protect a fleet of transports from air strikes (land based aircraft and shore based missile launches ) while they cross the channel. Keep up the good work!
The opposite of Snake Eyes (two aces) is Boxcars (two sixes).
The Mako will actively target vital systems, so even with a small warhead, the kinetic energy and smart precision targeting one or two would make a carrier combat ineffective.

While I do love the Mako, I feel like the Navy wouldn't kick out thr LRASM so early, I would think in 2027, its more likely the USN would use both LRASM and Mako in conjunction, which if a strike was timed properly, would be incredibly deadly. Would love to see this battle redone, but with LRASM's included, great battle though Cap, hope your health gets better and
The frontal radar reflection of the F35C is significantly higher than that of the J35.
Why would the Chinese pilots be given veteran status when they spend so little on training because their planes cannot handle the stress of landing as well as ours, maybe 1/3 at best. They have never been deployed in combat either. The US Navy and Marine Corps pilots, that are new, are much, much better trained and the older ones have been running combat ops for 20 years or more.
@Grimreapers - Thank you for another great video Cap! I hope you are doing and feeling better. Would you redo this battle? It isn't bad at all, I just think the approach and the order in which weapons are deployed in sequence for the blue side's attack could be made more realistic - not that DCS is realistic anyways. 😅 U.S. carriers still carry a decent amount of Harpoon missiles onboard. They are old missiles, but when combined and launched in sequence with MALDs they could be effective at burning up the defending side's SAM numbers, especially if used in decent numbers. For a redo, I would recommend having a first wave of F/A-18s launching Harpoons and MALDs followed up by a second wave of F/A-18s launching LRASMs and then Makos. F-35C's would be sent out shortly after the first of F/A-18s depart and before the second wave of F/A-18s departs. I'm not sure how many waves you can build into your battle scenario without crashing your server, but it is worth trying.
@jameslarson319
24 күн бұрын
From what I've gathered, the Harpoon will be replaced with NSM's/LARASMS/Anti Ship tomahawks. I believe in a true fight the f35's would likely be the ones carrying the MAKOS over the f18. Due to the fact that they could launch the missiles and then preform target designation for the f18's serving as missile trucks with AM260's. I could be wrong in this thinking, perhaps it'd be more of a mix across the board. But I do believe the offensive abilities of US carrier groups and their aircraft have truly reached if not surprised what Russian and Chinese groups can offer.
They will have to face three or four carriers. So good luck.
*places obligatory hate mail in mailbox*
Yes, who doesn't love the What-If .. but still no torpedoes?
Fun to watch as always. US should have PAC3 by this time which will add a huge advantage for the number of missiles carried. Also the NSM which will still subsonic is low flying and stealthy so the enemy won’t see it coming. I think these would leverage a big advantage to the US. Not to mention things that the sim can’t take into account like more real world experience and better crew training.
The F-35 is only a little bit better than the Chinese knockoff? Awesome video guys!

@@grimreapers hey cap, I haven’t watched all your videos so I might be missing it but have you ever messed around with VLS-launched LRASM? On 3 June 2013, Lockheed successfully conducted "push through" tests of a simulated LRASM on the Mk 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS). Four tests verified the LRASM can break the canister's forward cover without damaging the missile. On 17 September 2013, Lockheed launched an LRASM Boosted Test Vehicle (BTV) from a Mk 41 VLS canister. The company-funded test showed the LRASM, fitted with the Mk 114 rocket motor from the RUM-139 VL-ASROC, could ignite and penetrate the canister cover and perform a guided flight profile. In January 2014, Lockheed demonstrated that the LRASM could be launched from a Mk 41 VLS with only modified software to existing shipboard equipment. It’d be really cool to experiment with this idea, I’d be all for it
Wow, the Chinese stuff looks just like US stuff. How is that possible?
US carrier carries 75 fighters, it’s very practice as they can hold 90 if needed.
I think the few Makos snuck through because of the aircraft taking off and there were only a couple of missiles rather than a massive amount. I do wonder why MSTs do a popup to attack ships?
35:06 Looks like the TR (CVN-71) met their reenlistment target as evidenced by their port anchor being painted gold.
Fully loaded 2027 UK carrier group vs China would be interesting. Give them as many F-35B as will fit in a QE class carrier. Upgraded frigates and such with more and better missiles. NSM, CAMM, etc.
F-35 vs. any plane = it wins. Easily. Except for the F-22, which is why we have never sold one.
Hey Cap! The USN is planning to retrofit all of their Burkes with RAM launchers instead of the Phalanx (or maybe retain the phalanx and add the RAM? I forgot). Older ships with incompatible radars will get the SeaRam with 11 missiles while the newer ones will get the 21-cell launchers. These will certainly help alot against supersonic cruise missiles. Oh and why were only 31 Mako missiles fired when there were 36 anti ship hornets each with 4 missiles? Or maybe Im missing something? Thanks!

Perhaps the game considers the ship "destroyed" if it's damaged beyond the ability to perform it's role. A ship isn't a warship if it can't war.
33:50 My best guess is that a Mako impacted onto a J-15B and it's ASMs blew up on the carrier.
Thanks Cap, been waiting for another big battle for what feels like months. I'm not going to lie I've been skipping a lot of your content lately as I really like the more real world big battle scenarios. but I know those are much harder for you guys to make them. RIP to the poor fishermen's just trying to make a living..
Great battle, its probably not possible in DCS but it would be great if misslies changed targets based on whats been destroyed, and if ships were disabled by one missle since CV's wouldnt be able to launch planes for a while after even a small missle hit and destroyers sould be blinded since their radars ate extremely delicate (maybe they could still use CWIS or IR missle like rim 116).

With Mako missiles having so much kinetic energy the explosion is a lot bigger than the actual warhead. Also if 2 missiles hit the carrier near the waterline couldn't that be enough to sink it?
For example, the Block 4 has 20 exterior sensors giving it 360 degree anti-SAM ability. Those sensors can be used to target. Computing power is 20 times stronger. With an assortment of jamming and cyberwarfare abilities.
Bet we still habe cruisers in 2.5 years
The new F35 should be modeled. C.H should try the TRS 3 (Technology Refresh System) Block 4 version. It's computing power is next level.
The only issue I see is that your battles are based on IF Chinese equipment actually works. They are still having so many issues with their carriers that assuming any actually capable of a mission at close to peak performance is bold.

Hey Cap, can you try a time-on-target US strike on a Chinese carrier group using LRASM and MAKO? The idea being that the MAKO saturates the defenses and radar channels allowing the LRASM to slip through.
Im sure you herd about the Patriot pac-3 integration on navy ships. They can quad pack 4 per tube. It going to be doing sea trials here any day. early testing proved aegis can provide target data to the missile successfully. Would be great to see CH have that option on the assets he makes. and would love to see a war game with these new capabilities. as Raytheon produces far more patriots a year than SM series.
