    From a leak: Like prior 4Runners, the new model also shares a lot with the latest Tacoma midsize pickup including the powertrains. Toyota’s increasingly ubiquitous 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be under the hood of all sixth-generation 4Runners. The standard i-Force version delivers 278-hp and lb-ft of torque. The hybrid i-Force Max adds an electric motor and 1.87-kWh nickel-metal hydride battery for a total of 326-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Towing capability grows from 5,000-lbs to 6,000-lbs. The wheelbase of the new model has grown by 2.4-inches and overall length has grown by 4.7-inches compared to the old model. The longer overhangs mean the approach and departure angles are slightly degraded for the new 4Runner at 32 and 24 degrees respectively compared to 33 and 26 degrees for the four-wheel-drive fifth-gen. However, the nearly 20-inch shorter wheelbase compared to the Tacoma should give the 4Runner a big advantage over the pickup in breakover angle. Both options come with the same eight-speed automatic transmission found in the Tacoma and Land Cruiser. As before, customers can choose a rear-wheel-drive, part-time four-wheel-drive or full-time four-wheel-drive system. Both 4WD systems have a two-speed transfer case and Toyota’s active traction control system to aid in sending torque to the wheels with the most grip. All variants get an automatic limited slip differential. In addition to all of the usual trims found on Toyota trucks and SUVs, the 4Runner also offers the new Trailhunter trim. The Trailhunter includes ARB's Old Man Emu (OME) 2.5-inch forged shocks with remote reservoirs on the rear axle and a custom ARB roof rack. 33-inch Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires provide the grip along with two-inches of added front ground clearance and 1.5-inches in the rear. Rock rails and high strength steel skid plates come standard on the Trailhunter along with a bronze grille and integrated 20-inch LED light bar. Toyota has also built in a 2400W inverter to power gear during overlanding adventures. The 2025 4Runner goes on sale in fall 2024

    I'd be surprised if they don't do the TRD Pro. I think the Trail Hunter would replace the TRD Off Road (what I had) more than it would the Pro.

    @b.ACE_ I want an old 4runner that you used to be able to. This thing will be way too similar to the new land cruiser and they compete for sales.

    @@371kenny I think 4Runner might be locked in with a full body that can’t remove parts/ equipment, but perhaps the Land Cruiser will scratch that itch, or the New FJ cruiser when it gets revived.

    ​@@371kenny: They will not compete for sales. Only the TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims will touch Land Cruiser 250's price range. Those trims are for people serious about offroading (or want to look like they do). The LC250, on the other hand, targets more..."mature" folks who always fantasized about owning a Land Cruiser yet couldn't afford the $95K price tag; but now, for the first time in their Gen X life, they can finally put a "Land Cruiser" in their garage and at the golf course (they do not want to be seen in a 4Runner). Let's be honest, the upper offroad 4Runner trims and the Land Cruiser 250 (Prado...cough, cough) may overlap in price, but they target customers with vastly different intentions for their purchases, and potential buyers will not cross-shop between the two.

    The bigger issue is that these off-road vehicles are now so fantastically expensive that to take them off-road seems preposterous. I mean, if you really want to go off road, get a 2012 Jeep Unlimited for around 10k spend another 10-15k in enhancing it's off-roadiness and you will have a more capable off-roader for 25k. The 4Runner Trail Hunter Trim is going to be 80k after these greedy pigs get done marking it up and adding the usual dealer installed smoke, then if you really off-road it, you get to spend untold 1K's more fixing it, a pretty silly proposition if you ask me.

    It seems like to me that Tacoma is Behind other makers.. It doesn't have a front locker. The transmission or 4 wheel drive takes longer to engage than other trucks like the GMC. Or the Ford The GMC or Chevrolet or Ford are all much faster, according to The statistics are stats. The Tacoma could be the weakest Tacoma ever made straight out of Mexico with the higher price that don't make sense.

    It's most likely gonna get the 4 cylinder engine which to me is unfortunate if they do that if they put the I Force V6 from the Tundra would be a better option in my opinion then the 4 cylinder engine

    then they wont sell any 76k land cruisers that have a twin turbo four cylinder. Why in the world would you buy one of those if you can get the I force 6 for 15k cheaper?
