Toyota answered the prayers of automotive enthusiasts around the world with the introduction of the GR Corolla. On paper, it's hard to argue with: an incredibly attractive hatchback design with a potent 300-horsepower three-cylinder powerplant powering all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. On top of that power, it's got suspension tuned by Toyota's Gazoo Racing motorsport division, which is also responsible for the GR86 and the GR Supra. What more could a devout driving enthusiast ask for?

Just picked mine up last week and almost at 1k miles. I love this WAY more than my 2020 GLC63 AMG. The perfect driver’s car!
I've had mine for a couple of weeks. I smile each time I drive it. Its great to have hot hatch choices
I had an '88 and a '90 All Trac which were waay too soft but the history and their accomplishments in the WRC made them truly special cars
I want one even more now. 😭 I'm hoping some other auto makers see the success of the GR Corolla and we start seeing more hot hatches from more than just Toyota and VW. Give the people what they want! (The people want rally cars you can daily.)
Oh, good. I see that it has an “Oh, Jesus!” bar for my husband in the passenger seat. My FiST doesn’t have that. 😜

@sachikosato8702 I always was curious about the lack oh a handle there, but I think it has to do with the airbag.
love my GRC Core with all of the fixings.
Here in Puerto Rico the Core version starts at $59,995… 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
7k miles on my GR Corolla and I'm still obsessed!

I've got about 170 miles on mine lol.. It does grip and corner amazingly well. Not fast, but lots of fun around town.

@@spinnettiI’d say it’s pretty fast considering it’s a Corolla..but to each their own.

@@UnstoppableMileage the man the myth himself! Woulda been 35k if you didn’t get the fl5 🤣
500km on my blue circuit so far. had a 23 red core with 21k. absolutely love the platform.
6k on my 2023 Grc very enjoyable.. give me every smile when I drive it .. but I m looking forward in the FL5 type r .. i love the civic to complete my dream garage..😃

My type R is my daily but my GR blue flame is my baby, this will be sought after in the future. But my type R they are a dime of dozen.
Was really close to buying one last month. As someone who’s owned plenty of AWDs, (r32 GTR) that wasn’t a major selling point for me. Ended up going across the street from Toyota and bought a FL5 Civic Type R. Good review btw

Did the exact opposite after test driving both . The GRC was much more fun to drive and a better daily but I woulda been happy either way. Can’t believe how much I missed an actual manual hand brake. I do wish the grc circuit would come in as many color options as the CTR
I’m drive a 2020 STI. But if I had to get another car it would be a GR Corolla.
Unless things changed from when I bought my 2023 GRC, there are no brake differences between trims, just painted red or not red.

You’re correct. But the red paint is a good indicator of the performance differentials. Canada however got all black calipers with I hear most being with the upgraded diffs
This or Type R?

Gr corolla is better all around car

are dealers still trying to steal thousands over MSRP?

Some are, but a handful are not
Sorry Type R is in a different league. Plus it’s slit more roomy and practical. Corolla looks very much like a normal Corolla besides the exhaust. CTR 2.0 litre engine is proven and bulletproof

So is the gr corolla engine? Lamspeed just got one to 1000bhp last weekend. And they’ve been proven in Europe for years pushing double what they come with from factory
You nailed it. the Golf R is better, but the Corolla is silly where the Golf is serious and the Corolla makes you giggle and the handling and grip are way beyond expectation.

That's the rarest color... it has character but I understand not wanting it. My GRC is white
New Standard for hot hatches? Sorry, you have the GTI, Golf R, Type R and Type S ahead of you. Still glad to see Toyota finally get it's head out of it's *** after 20 some years.
@RocketVlogs

Sorry, but the GTI and Golf R don't provide the same raw and connected driver feeling, and those other two sedans you listed need not apply for the hot hatch category lol. ;)

The Corolla is more fun and is more engaging, even though the Golf R is a better car and better value. I love the boy racer tuner feel of the Corolla, and front and rear Torsen are a huge plus.

@thebumpban4959 It's a sedan and I'm tired of pretending It's a hatchback lol. If the Civic and Integra are hatchbacks then so is a Tesla Model S.
Type-R is still the standard, sorry.

better option for those that want to drive in the snow or wet, period.
@dasmg

@@SethKnows doesn't change what i said, even with FWD it's a better overall vehicle, period. i've lived in Michigan my whole life with FWD cars, they drive just fine in the wet and snow, it's about having the right rubber for the occasion. but i mean, go on about how that makes it the standard for all hot hatches because of one specific use case.
@SethKnows

@@dasmg I agree, but most buying the GRC don't care about the marginally better track performance. My comment wasn't about how well it gets around, it was more about how fun and engaging the car is in those conditions and having FWD with an electric parking brake is about 1% of the fun that you could have. CTR is a better vehicle, but starts much higher compared to multiple trims and budgets with the GRC (CTR has a much higher market adjustment too) Also, I'd argue the 3 cylinder GRC oozes character, whereas the CTR feels more refined and behaved.

@@dasmgI live in MI too for the past 20 years and I completely agree about awd not being a requirement but it’s a nice to have feature . The FL5 was not build for all weather climate - 19 inch wheels no heated seats no heated steering lower to the ground etc etc. the grc has a better package for an all season climate - 18 in wheels heated steering mirrors and seats .5 inches higher ground clearance front/back parking sensors and that’s even before we discuss the drive train. The FL5 was built for track. The r mode is not even usable on the streets . The more daily driver variant is the ITS. The GRC was built for daily driving more so than the FL5. Based on my test driving and the way I see it - track mostly and some daily driving get the Honda. Mostly daily driving and need a bigger car to do it all get the Integra . Mostly daily driving on a smaller size spartan interior for less money get the Toyota .
