I'm holding off for a 24 model..I just hope with the new TBI it doesn't lose that 2 stroke punch we all love. TPI was so disappointing to ride , no grunt on the bottom

I like the top mounted filter access it's great for those that run steg pegz. I certainly get for those with huge hands it's a nightmare

Yes, this was a point raised by the Aussie Sherco race team, the use of Stegz would make a side door tricky. That said, the Factory 1 USA race team killed an engine when they messed up an air filter change mid-race. The bottom of the filter wasn't aligned properly and dust destroyed the engine and caused a DNF... Benefits on both hands

The only thing that would keep me from buying another Sherco SE250 factory in 24 would be if they switch to EFI, I like to do everything myself, troubleshoot and wrench and EFI means dealership tech, that is the exact reason I switched from KTM to Sherco in 21, my 19 KTM was nothing but a headache. Keihin is so simple and easy.

They will have to change to EFI, they won't be able sell bikes without meeting new emission laws in most countries. I mentioned in the video that perhaps they will have access to an owner connection for troubleshooting and data reading. There are zero 4 stroke bikes available without EFI, and almost all run great and cause the owners no problem. Wait and see what Sherco delivers, and I believe you'll be surprised. All the best.

@@patbateman6729 As I understand it, 2024 is when the new emission regs come into effect. I'm actually doing the opposite to you, hanging out on my 21 model waiting for the EFI models to arrive 👍 I'm a motor mechanic who has worked with EFI since the 80s and I can't wait to see the change from carbs on 2 strokes. Don't expect it to be a mess like the Orange team system 👍

@@Danger_mouse I myself to have been turning the spanners for years, just thinking that the least any bike manufacturer can do when they go efi is to supply us with the apps and software to to diagnose and tune our own bikes since we're paying over10,000. for these steeds. Good luck and Braaap on.

@@patbateman6729 I do chat to a young factory engineer at Sherco. It's something that I raised, that we the end user, need to be able to connect with the bikes at home without the need to visit the dealer (Like OBDII for cars) I actually hope it will be written into the new emission regs 👍

My first bike as a KLX 4 stroke. 😂 Now I have a GasGas EC300. I like the TPI. Before that I had an Xtrainer and left the oil injection. I would like to see a Sherco EFI 2 stroke. I didn’t start riding until a few years ago so mixing gas and kick starts are barely part of my experience or better said, I didn’t grow up with them so I don’t miss or desire them. I looked at Sherco when thinking of getting the GasGas, but didn’t want to deal with a carb or mixing. Other than that I liked everything about it. I’d look again if they went EFI.

There was talk a while back about a 150, but it seems to have gone quite. I know other markets would buy the 200, here in Australia the 300 2&4 strokes are the sales leaders and all the other models barely rate a mention.

220 hours and my original clutch is still going strong. Excited to see what 2024 brings, I also believe they will be EFI. I have mixed feelings on this as the current model bikes are just so good. Unfortunately some things with TPI have given EFI two strokes a bad reputation. I have tried the 2022 TM EN300 FI which is TBI and it's quite good. I'll also be testing a 2023 KTM 300XC soon so I'll see how the newest generation orange brand compares.

The WP on my 2021 250tpi is great. Haven't really touched it. The engine not so great. Top end at 40 hours, TSP head and retune. 150 hours of wear in 40.

Glad the WPs work for you 👍but the problem with them if they don't suit the rider's preference, then there's not enough adjustment to change the settings. 40hrs for the top end is crazy! My Sherco in the video has just had a set of rings at 100hrs, no piston. Bore looked new, piston still in spec. Thanks for dropping by 👍

I ended up replacing my clutch at around 50 hours, but I do think I am a bit harsh on a clutch on the steep up-hills near me. I think they could slightly improve the fan design, as well as the electric connections under the tank. I stress about breaking things each time I take off or put on the tank. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hi James, If the bike is suffering fuel issues after a period of run time, the most likely cause will be the fuel pump on the way out. There's lots of different kits available online/ebay etc. Thanks for stopping by 👍

  • @Danger_mouse

TM has fuel injection also. All bikes are going to have to have it if the companies wish to sell their products in the various markets around the world, especially the smaller companies who can't afford to make multiple versions of the same bike. It's just a reality of our modern world. I'm willing to bet that the Sherco EFI will be much better than KTMs failed TPI.

@@Dobemandan Yes, that will probably be an option for 23. 2024 is when the new emission regs take effect. You can't buy a carb feed 4 stroke and all the various companies have models that run well. Certainly welcome to purchase a carb bike, but you'll be missing out on a bright future for 2 stroke engines. Longer life, longer fuel range, no leaks, no messing with jets etc. For me in Australia, TMs are irrelevant, they have a tiny footprint here and I want a brand that can sell me parts from warehouse stock, not wait for overseas orders. All the best. 👍

They won't do a KTM, they'll do it properly! You can't hold on to outdated tech forever, let it go 👌 If we want to enjoy our sport into the future, we need to be responsible and clean them up. As a bonus they'll last longer and use less fuel 👍
