I have the same goal this year of only buying books I know for sure I want to read! I have a really bad habit of getting books just because I heard someone liked it once lol. I hope we can both achieve this goal this year :)

Yes I agree especially now with being on booktube I always see people talk about books in ways that makes me want to read them! It’s great to always be finding new books but not for my tbr 😂

Hmm I really loved Braiding Sweetgrass - definitely my all time favorite non-fiction. I like food books like Michael Pollan or Four Fish by Paul Greenberg. And I want to read more about race, poverty, etc in the US so like Evicted. I like a lot when a topic is woven into the authors life like how Braiding Sweetgrass is. I think that makes the best non-fiction for me.

Maybe making a challenge of reading a chapter per day (or something similar) will help you with reading non-fiction? It definitely helped me when I was reading non-fiction. My goal for this year is 100 books! It's a huge challenge for me as I usually only read around 40 books a year, but I'm choosing to focus on shorter books and comics this year. I know it's silly to do so but I wanted something to stop me from overworking so I guess an ambitious reading challenge will get me to do something else than work.

Oh that's a good idea! I will try that and see how it goes for me. I think that's great. Reading goals should be something to motivate instead of a chore! If it helps you then that's great!

I'm the same way with readathons. I really, REALLY want to participate in them and join in the fun, but this year I also decided to go easy. Like for Victober, I read two short novels and a short story and that was a perfect amount of Victorian literature for the month lol. Otherwise I become overwhelmed.

Yes! And I think putting less pressure helps to make it more fun for me otherwise it becomes a big giant task that’s not longer fun.
