    This was so lovely to watch! I've always been curious about the indie bookshops in America and it was so nice to see you introduce these wonderful bookshops. Also great selection of books you've gotten from them!

    Such a cozy vibe on an afternoon where I refuse to move from the couch. Thanks for the epic videos! Also, I always thought of horror and thriller as fall books but I see what you’re saying with this campfire bit. Did you read Lone Woman? I need to read that before Sunday. I’m thinking you did read it…

    🍄🍄🍄 So many here on my TBR that I guess I need to bump up!! Especially Babel, This Is How You Lose the Time War, Binti, The City of Brass series, and Gideon the Ninth. Notes on an Execution was also a 5 star for me! My 5 (and 4.75) stars so far for the year are: Tress of the Emerald Sea, The Girl With the Louding Voice, Ruthless Vows, Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands, The Hate U Give, Anne of Green Gables, Finding Me, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, The Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Funny Story, Seven Days in June, Piranesi, and Parable of the Sower! 😊

    I feel like Murderbot is underrated as a Found-Family series. I absolutely love the crew from the first book, who were already close and grew closer, and how they enfolded Murderbot into their group without hesitation. I'm always so happy to see them show up throughout the series. Also, your cat's greeting (demand?) was just adorable!

    Can i read these books as a beginner. Anyone please answer?

  • @brandywinebooks
    @brandywinebooksАй бұрын

    I think so! I'd recommend maybe starting with the Sherry Thomas books - A Study in Scarlet Women or Neskesia Afia - Dead, Dead Girls (a little creepier) since the mysteries aren't hard to follow and can ease you in to it. Or to try The Thursday Murder Club which is more fun but a little more confusing with timelines.

    I'm so glad you loved What Feasts at Night and that you found it darker than What Moves the Dead. I'm reading it soon and I hope I'll love it too. I just finished Nettle & Bone and though I thought I wouldn't like it as much, I ended up loving it a lot and gave it 5 stars. There's just something in her writing that adapts so well to different genres and hooks you in slowly by slowly. Might give The Hollow Places a try too; I think it will be a nice gateway to the horror genre. Kate Elliot has a space-opera series of novels that sounds interesting too!
