I like that you guys have Hayao Miyazaki above the Spiderverse trio and I agree. Because he’s a foreign auteur and an academy darling, if the film is acclaimed as spirited away-tier, the narrative behind him getting into director is absolutely there. If Zone of Interest is just too inaccessible for the industry because of its heavy themes, I think he’s next in line for the foreign auteur package, personally

I feel like White Bird could get nominated for Costume Design, never heard of it either but the costumes are by Jenny Beavan (Cruella, Mad Max: Fury Road, Ms Harris Goes to Paris etc) she gets nominated ,like, every time she makes a movie
@devdanferguson7616
Жыл бұрын
Man, I remember seeing trailers for that a year ago, then again when I saw Spiderverse. Wonder why they delayed it so far. As for the nomination chance, it certainly feels possible, but I do wonder if it'll happen three years in a row. Cruela and Ms Harris were both movies about the fashion world which lent themselves to Beavan getting to really flex her costuming skills, whereas this is a less showy wartime period piece. Also, she wasn't even nominated at all from Fury Road to Cruella (in which she did costume work for such masterpieces like The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and Dolittle). If White Bird overperforms, its a possibility, and its a great mention, but I personally don't think its a likely chance.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Last two got nominated and the effects were fantastic. Only MCU movie I can see getting in.) 4. Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse (Just based on how it’s taking the animation to the next level, definitely!) 5. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (Haven’t seen it yet and after hearing great things but I heard it used both practical and CGI so maybe it has a chance.) Possibilities: Oppenheimer (Could this be a Dunkirk or Top Gun: Maverick for VFX?) Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One (After the Top Gun: Maverick acclaim, maybe?) Rebel Moon (Not sure since Zack Snyder movies don’t get nominated in this category.) The Little Mermaid (Felt like the effects were inconsistent, some looked colorful and beautiful at times but then other times it didn’t look good.)

Regarding International Feature, Kaurismaki actually HAS had 2 movies nominated, he just had the second one withdrawn (also did the same for a third movie before it was even screened for the Academy) for various political reasons. Also, for Italy, I'd say Kidnapped has a much better shot than La Chimera. They've never submitted a Rohrwacher, but they sent Bellocchio's last movie, which was about as successful as this new one (i.e., it made basically no noise but was perfectly fine and didn't get nominated).

@devdanferguson7616

You guys should do one of those vídeos predicting the metascore of the unreleased movies of the season before Barbie and Oppenheimer comes out 🙏🏻
23:00 I love a brotherly quarell because I can always come back next year to see who the jester is
Who I’m predicting for VFX for now: 1. Dune Part Two (Total no brainer) 2. The Creator (Wasn’t considering until I saw the trailer which looks very interesting and skyrocketed to number two.) 3.
You guys didn't fix the mistake from last time 😅 The country is called Tunisia not Tusnia. The "N" is before the "S" in writing and pronunciation.
If they used miniatures in the Oppenheimer explosion scenes, like miniature buildings getting shredded apart, some people would consider that vfx. I’m also thinking there could be a war scene sprinkled in somewhere.
Poor Things is getting Cinematography mark my words, it will be Poor Things only nom
What I’m predicting for Best Animated Film: 1. Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse (Definitely winning, hands down!) 2. How Do You Live? ( Could give SpiderVerse a run for its money.) 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (Heard great reactions so far, I think it’s a lock plus by the same people who did Mitchells VS Machines and unique animation style.) 4. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (Hope this sequel is worth the over 20 year wait and I wouldn’t underestimate Aardman.) 5. Nimona (Also hearing great reactions so far and I think it’s narrative could help.)

Still praying for the day Ceylan gets his flowers!

First yo! Love that you guys have Nolan for Directing. I totally agree with you! Edit: For cinematography like I mentioned in my video, I feel like Rodrigo Prieto might get nominated for Barbie instead of Killers of the Flower Moon, cause the cinematography and production design in Barbie's trailer look pretty good. Also do you guys think Dan Laustsen might get nominated for the cinematography in John Wick instead of The Color Purple? I loved John Wick's cinematography, and I doubt The Color Purple will have better cinematography but on the other hand it will release close to the Oscars season so they might nominate him for The Color Purple instead of nominating him for John Wick but either way he is 100% getting a nom.
