2024 Nissan Juke review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Nissan Juke is overlooked.
It's a very practical, tiny crossover SUV with a zesty turbo petrol engine, five models to choose from, and a clever interior with a boot that's way bigger than you probably expect.
It has one major issue though. I'll tell you all about it in this review -- include ways to get around this part of the drive experience that could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

Excellent review. Thank you. I own a Ford Puma (model 2023). But I like the interior of the Juke more. The Puma drives good. But I wait for the review on the Nissan Juke (upgrades model 2024, with the 142 Hp.Hybrid with a 4 cilinder 1600 CC). IMO it is more reliable, than 1 liter, 3 cilinder, 125 Hp than the Puma have.

Hi mate. S-Cross isn’t as new as it should be. They really did the bare minimum with the update and tried to label it all-new. It’s not. I don’t think it’s a bad car. But wouldn’t spend my money on it. I’d go for a Vitara Turbo.

Does that make it a smooth ride then Or is the Puma just better? I found the seats in the Puma a bit small for back support! Partner likea the C4. Imput would be greatly appreciated Its between Juke TI Puma ST VLine Citroen C4 Many thanks

It certainly stands out from the crowd design wise, not sure I ‘love‘ the shape, extraordinary value for money though. The interior, despite aged design, doesn’t look too bad at all and it appears very functional. More USB ports up front and rear would be nice. Are they USB C or A? I truly think car manufacturers (nowadays) should be providing USB-C. Not sure I’d want to let it run out to 20,00km between services, that’s a lot of k’s between oil;d changes, but depending on costs of service packs that might be the way to go. We’d never achieve that mileage on one in a year though. A great second car, but prejudiced though I am I’d likely choose the Skoda Kamiq 4 cylinder above the Juke. Great review with fair comments as always. Nissan generally make reliable cars, so that’s a positive for the Juke!

I rented a Nissan Juke during Xmas holiday with family in 2022 and it was a brilliant like runabout in Canberra. I had a the basic version but even so it was nice to drive and parking was a breeze (very important when on holiday). United Kingdom have an e-power Juke which gives a bit more performance with hybrid fuel consumption. Already the normal consumption is reasonably low at 6.1L/100km which I recorded during the rental period. UK Nissan site shows signifcant savings again but at a few thousands dollars premium. Matt, any chance the e-power is coming to Australia? Its an underrated little car.

  • @therightcar

    @therightcar

    6 ай бұрын

Thanks for that - and yep, you’re bang on, the e-power would be a perfect Juke, getting rid of those drivetrain quirks once and for all! Sadly they won’t be bringing it here, as far as I understand. It would be a perfect spec if they made the ST-L with e-power at $40k. Qashqai e-power is on its way, though!

@therightcar Just took delivery of a brand new STL + last week, so far so good (Fuji Sunset Red wirh white and black interior) .....We do a mix of in town ans commuter diving (we live in Northern NSW), fuel is averaging 6.8 litres per 100 at present; boot space is excellent for a car of its size and honestly its a zippier car than what we thought it would be. If i had to give a couple of negitive comments at this stage; they'd be having to switch off the traffic sign recognition function at each start and at times the noise coming in to the vehicle can be a little intrusive at higher speeds; apart from that everything else seems good and well put together.....we did look at the MG ZS, Toyota Yarris Cross and the sibbling to the Juke (Quashqai) but the Juke won out having a larger boot and a great sense of styling both inside and out.......personally found the Nissan dealer much better to dral with than Toyota/MG too so that did help in the decision making if only a little bit.

The little engine turned us off this car. We have an old Nissan Micra that has a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder engine. It’s been a reliable engine over 220k kms. No issues with the engine at all. I’m not sure if a little 1 litre turbo would last as long. Thirty odd thousand dollars is a lot of money to ask for a little car with such a small engine.

You pointed out one of the worst features I despise on new cars today and that's the rear door handles designed into the C pillar! This is not a practical feature at all and looks gimmicky at best. The Toyota CH-R is the worst! I'm definitely a fan of traditional rear door handles and I'm glad Suzuki have gone back to them for the new generation Swift! I like the Juke! The current' generation is a big improvement over the first, which I have driven a few times, but the current generation is a lot better! For some reason I though it had the same engine and trans set up as the Renault Captur, but it's actually not! The Captur is a 4cyl 1.3L turbo. That engine and trans in the Captur and Arkana is actually not a bad thing, especially around town and sounds like it's a lot better than the what the Juke has been lumbered with, but at least it's not a CVT!! I know people swear about them, but I just can't bring myself to drive a car with a CVT. Not yet anyway! For me though, I'd pick the Skoda Kamiq, not being biased what so ever! Haha! In fact, I'm working on the better half to either upgrade the 2 year old Polo Comfortline to a facelifted Volkswagen T-Cross or the facelifted Skoda Kamiq at the end of 2024 or early 2025.

  • @therightcar

Good idea about sports mode, but if you buy one of the bottom two models it's not available. I drove one today and the transmission was awful. Clunky and no power. For both features and performance, it felt like a ten year old car that was never serviced. I'd suggest that the ST and ST+ actually represent poor value.

I remember a few facelifts ago when this car was being compared with Suzuki Vitara and that car beat this in just about every practical aspect. Now Nissan has bulked it up to get over that and it seems that hasnt made much of a difference, the car is just as impractical and underpowered when compared with the Vitara(hope you can get to review it one day). If I was making a choice in this price range id take a Jolion, reason being for the money youre getting a bigger car with a bigger boot and more features and power per dollar spent than the Juke. I would have chosen the Vitara but its just gotten so expensive.

But to compound this issue Aussies will turn their noses up at the Indian models such as the XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Brezza and Baleno(that ADR 85/00 restriction doesnt make sense as it gets curtain airbags and side impact door beams, plus the Fronx is coming which is the same platform so🤔). The hybrids are coming which will exacerbate this issue.

Had one as a rental for 2 weeks. The dual clutch transmission is easily the worst I have experienced. Comically bad. Really harsh suspension, even on the fattest tyres (ST). Couldn’t live with that car. The rental company guy told me they always received complaints when nissan jukes were returned. Rented an MG HS recently. It certainly has its flaws but much better DCT and more comfortable suspension.
