As is the new style with KTM, all features will come with the motorcycle (an example is heated grips) but won’t be available to the owner until you have purchased the “Tech Pack” via your KTM dealer. Which can cost £1,000 (without discounts). The tech pack being an ECU flash which then incorporates all the new features, which is why you can’t just plug a code reader into a KTM and enable functions as the standard ECU firmware doesn’t have any features within its code.
This looks to be an epic motorcycle from KTM, it’s quite small compared to my 1290R and feels very similar to the Duke 390 for size, although the 990’s fuel tank is definitely larger.
The seat is comfortable and the switchgear has a premium feel to it.
I’m really excited that KTM chose to bring back the 990 name and is giving us this lightweight and powerful motorcycle.
