2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid review - Better than a Toyota 7 seater?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The updated 2024 Kia Sorento SUV range has seen the inclusion of a hybrid model.
This is that car - and it's available in 2WD or AWD, with pricing starting above $70K AUD. Which means, frankly, that it's a bit expensive.
Compare that to the diesel version, which is my pick and is very nicely sorted -- and it also happens to start almost $20K cheaper -- and the GT-Line only HEV Sorento isn't quite as compelling as it could be.
But is it real-world efficient? Watch the review and you'll see for yourself!

When is the Kia EV5 due to launch? Looking forward to your review of that car; a key new car for Kia Australia in my opinion. I'm thinking starting price for the Air FWD will now be reduced to $54,990 + ORC's. (After recent price drop of Model Y from Tesla)

so many comments about price but its worth noting the price comparable to kluger top spec. 7 seat hybrid cx90 starts at 80k. it’s a lot of money sure but what are the options.

I have seen enough at the price not worth $ 79,000 for the AWD version. For me, the Sportage GT-Line Diesel would be my pick, and it has a torque converter auto. And under $58,000 drive away. 😊

I'm a fan of the Sportage diesel also, torque is king. I like the standard SX trim, white or grey. Only $50,000 in VIC. Will be removed from sale by end of 2024 in Australia, replaced by 1.6T petrol hybrid. I really dislike the front look of the GT-Line.

@@joeee60 My opinion; Kia/Hyundai will not continue with PHEV's in Australia. Hybrids are still very much liked and will be for many years. Within the next 3 years, Kia/Hyundai will also offer an EV in the small (EV3), medium (EV5), large (EV7) and extra large sectors (EV9). By my estimation, in 10 years EV's will account for about 30% of the market in Australia. Diesel Utes will still be in the market and 'soft' family SUV's will be popular with petrol hybrids.

Yep, it is an issue and Kia knows it. Same with Carnival. Sportage has two grades with hybrid but they know they need more hybrids. Hyundai Santa Fe looks pretty enticing with hybrid on all three specs…

I love this car, but it is too expensive, the PHEV is 80/85k, assuming to find one. I’m really happy with my Outlander PHEV which tick many boxes with similar interior quality, 7 seaters ( less roomy), 4x4, 20Kwh battery (vs 13.8 of Kia). I run 95% electric without fuel range anxiety, worst case it becames a very efficient hybrid. The EV3 could be a good second family car if it came with decent specs and acceptable price

Kia Is trying to kill the pig on this one. Overpriced by at least 10k, servicing every 10 thousand kms at over $600. Real world fuel efficiency isn't that great.
