    Thanks for the recap! Im taking away alot from the start of this season - mainly all Ironman races are B list races and an opportunity to make money and get yourself to gold standard pto racing (i mean that respectfully). The pto is proving itself to be the pinnacle of the sport

    Wow, in Spain they actually hand out penalties for drafting? Bravo. Good that it finally happens to Youri. He has been noticed for drafting several times among the pros and he has even won races this way without being penalized. And while we're on the subject of penalties. Sam Long should have been disqualified last week. At check-in he was asked about the fact that his athlete's wristband was missing from the last three races there. He was just surprised that this had been noticed. Incorrigibly, he did not wear his athlete's wristband in the race again. The ranking in the series would have shifted quite a bit if someone had said something and come up with an objection. The athlete's wristband is annoying sometimes, but everyone should wear one. Sam is going for it and is probably only learning the hard way.

    Youri Chartier I mean Keulen flukes one race win and immediately reverts to type, drafting. I wonder if he will now be added to drug testing lists, and if we will see him win again.

    Can we talk about livestream? What was happening when they couldn't show the pros and just showed T1 and age groupers leaving the transition and 2 commentators just blabbing? At rhis point I called it quits and fell asleep.

    Why do you think the pros seem to breath on one side every other stroke? We r told to bilateral breah and to keep your head down. These guys are breathing every stroke and ahead of the pack plus all the sighting peaks. It seems to me the guy that keeps his head down and cuts all that waving of the head should win. Can you do a video on this topic?

  • @thedailytri

    @thedailytri

    Ай бұрын

    Great question! Its actually pretty simple - Pretty much all elite swimmers breathe every stroke to keep up with oxygen debt and maintain a consistent stroke rhythm! For us age groupers- they want us to be able to breathe both ways to learn correct form and not develop any imbalances! In a race though, you will need that extra oxygen, since youll be swimming at your threshold speed. Also, with the head out of the water to sight so often, it makes sense to grab a breath while the head is up. I remember Jan Frodeno talking about this in a video or interview once before. Ill have to try and find it and send it you! Thanks for the question - made me think I could make a video on "What the pros do different than the age-groupers". Also thank you for becoming a member Tomas!!!!! Welcome to team Daily Tri!!

    Can we talk about how much $$ is spent on aero testing for marginal W savings... all to be ruined by those fluttering race bibs acting like parachutes on the bike? It's incredible and looks super low end.

    Not to mention that almost NONE of the female Pros knows how to hop on the bikes properly (some also don't know how to get off), wasting more time there that could easily be saved with a little bit of training. And yes, I watched it at the end of T1 personally yesterday.
