    Snap. That’s exactly what I was just about to say. If it’s flat with the door or won’t be legal as will be obstructed from certain angles and for example, spore cameras might not be able to read it. Similar to the Nissan Patrol which has lights in the bumper and fake ones on the D pillar. The bumper ones are needed as the right D pillar ones would be obscured by the spare wheel.

    It’s ironic you raise the payload as a negative. 790kg is substantially more than you get in a Landcruiser 300, Y62Patrol, Prado, Everest or any other direct competitor that I am aware of. In fact, it’s up there with or better than the 1500 full size trucks from the US as well. The payload on the Tank 500 is therefore one of its relative strong points.

  • @CarExpertAus

    @CarExpertAus

    24 күн бұрын

    That's a good point. It's just worth pointing out given it has a 500kg lower towing capacity and it was called out in the Tank 300 review that we didn't mention it. We'll be including this in all of our reviews moving forward where towing is a factor.

  • @AidanCran

    @AidanCran

    For many many years, the 200/300 series could tow 3500kg, so say 10% on towball, that would leave you only 260/300kg payload remaining which is literally nothing for what most would say is the best and biggest tourer. This 790kg payload is probably the biggest when comparing similar type of cars (not utes)

    GWM(great wall) is really one of those brands that seems to hold up long term going by the used market. Cars and other auto gumtrees are full of ones well into the six figures km wise with 10-15 years on the road working for tradies. As long as the electronics hold up better on these fancier models, it's win win car brand for aussies. It's not like the japanese/euros or yank brands are helping our economy , frankly less than the Chinese given they take home a lot more margin from our market and don't build here anymore., Brand loyalty for anything but brass tacks practical reasons like reliability is folly.

What I don't understand is why other modern vehicle manufacturers can't do something more decent with the quality and responsive of the screens along with the camera angles/view as in this model. I simultaneously love and hate this car. What a car. Such great value. But just what we need, even more people able to drive ridiculous behemoths on the road. On the tailgate thing, I understand the issue of needing a tailgate's width behind the car to open it. But is it really much more than a lift tailgate where you need a tailgate's height behind the car? Plus with a lifted tailgate there can be problems with low ceilings, e.g. a multi-story car park. And with a swing tailgate you can partially open it, which is less of an option with a lift tailgate. Not sure. I've only ever had hatchbacks.

On the H6 you have to pull the cruise towards you twice to activate cruise+steering and it has a separate icon. Its weird as even without activating you can feel the ELK working but its much lighter and not as active on the steering. I suppose it's a problem if it left you with the impression, it was on.

    Our MG HS shipped in a mode that was configured to lower emissions for the UK/EU market - it was so laggy and unresponsive. The community recently got the info needed to change its “mode” and everyone’s cars have just perked up like they’re in a shallow sport mode with even better fuel efficiency somehow. I suspect a lot of Chinese brands have done the same thing. Dealerships in Aus weren’t clued up as how to change the mode when preparing the vehicle for sale.
