The story of the West is that they have been a day late and a dollar short all the way through, despite that these delays clearly cost more Ukrainian lives and loss of territory. Where are the promised GLSDB from the US ? Why were industry not given firm orders to ramp up production earlier ?? Why the delay in equipment deliveries when much more battlefield success would have been achieved by getting the kit there sooner ?? Why did the EU delay ammunition deliveries until they could for-fill their promises by producing in-house rather than sourcing available ammunition outside the EU so as to get it to the front ASAP?? Either our leaders are incompetent and do not really care that Ukrainians are dying or the delays are deliberate so as to bleed Russia at the cost of Ukrainian lives, not sure which is worse, but it shows that although our political class talk about western values they do not live up to them.

You cant "order" industries to suddenly ramp up production unless there's guarantees their products will be paid for. Germany asked for their artillery makers to increase production, but they're seeing only marginal increases due to be able to double the output they need to expand their facilities. Which will costs billions and the German government cant give any guarantees that these products will be bought. In worst case these private companies can end up with a vastly bloated business, capable of producing tens of thousands more, but who is going to pay? Ukraine has no money which it doesnt get from the EU or US. Each aid package needs a vote and obviously its now locked in the US. No certainty that Ukraine is going to get more aid in the future from EU countries or the US.

I am disgusted with the MAGA fools in the US who cannot see it is in the US strategic interest to support Ukraine, In any event most of the monies allocated as aid stays in the US as they send old stored kit with a depreciated value that they will never use and use the actual monies to build new stuff to maintain inventory levels. It must also be remembered that most of the stuff sent has been paid for by the US taxpayer in previous defense budgets. If you do not stand up for your values you stand for nothing.

Why should the US be ashamed? The president and the majority of both parties in Congress and the majority of Americans are totally for continued aid. It's only Trump and about six Republicans that are against it. Unlike some countries in the world, the US has an actual government system and actual rules that actually control what happens. The US isn't a dictatorship where the president can simply do as they please. Further, I don't think there's shame in not giving aid: it's very regrettable for the US, as well as Ukraine and the world, but it's not an embarrassment per se. EU simply needs to give more aid. Even the biggest spenders (those NATO countries along the border with Russia, not surprisingly, and the UK) are nowhere near the percent GDP the US spends on defense. I WANT the US to spend more, and the politicians I support are all for it, but the US has done far more than its share of military aid so far, and there's no reason why it's a shame if the US pauses and other NATO countries pick up some slack.

Manufacturing of ammunition has got to be a higher-value added industry than fertilizer. The only reason I see that this wouldn't be the case is that the manufacturers are locked into long term fixed contracts based on historical fertilizer costs. If that was the case, it doesn't make sense to ring fence supply - but rather to adjust the contracts to allow raw material cost pass through.

Then the tanks would be sent in. Next, Warthog ground support aircraft with 50 mm canons would stafe the trenches and fleeing troops. Then Apache Attack helicopters would be sent in to mop up the troops still fighting and take out artillery batteries and ground support vehicles and tanks. Hymars would be taking out hidden artillery batteries and comand centers. Then and only then would America troops be allowed to go into battle. Russia is maxed out right now, 24/7 war production, no unemployment, 40 percent of the federal budget spent on the war this year with their revenues and savings still shrinking. The budget projections for 2025 show a massive cut in defence spending to balance the numbers. Without it Russia faces serious economic problems. Ukraine has far less military aid since the start of 2024. The U.S is out, Europe is ramping slowly. All this means we are at peak Russia. This is as good as it gets for them. Ukraine needs to ride this year out and if the U.S re-engages, Europe's production reaches scale for 2025 and Russia's coffers keep emptying, Russia will be vulnerable. This is a battle of will and longevity. Russia want to grab as much territory as possible and scale back spending with a frozen conflict. If the west decides that it will supply Ukraine to fight on the wheel WILL turn against Russia. It's a matter of who blinks first.

Ya this dude is really sharp. It just makes me want to cry regarding how we the US armed Ukraine. Yes, even our used gear we provided the Ukrainians was way better than what the ruzzians were using but it has been too little to late in getting there. Putin's skill at deterring us cannot be overstated. Now there may not be any more US military aid going to Ukraine. Pathetic. If trump wasn't running I wouldn't be voting for Biden. Now we have to vote for a person we don't want because the other option is way worse. Just pathetic.

This travesty of arms not getting to the Ukrainians is brought to you by the Republicans in the House of Representatives also known as Groupies of Putin. Biden is doing all he can to get the ammo needed to Ukraine even going to other countries to give their old arms to Ukrainians to be replaced by newer arms made in the USA. So the only pathetic ones are in the GOP the lovers of all that is Putin.
