Maybe, just get one of your sound buddies to give u a hand in setting up your youtube studio when u have the time. 😎😎

    Nice video…while I’m mostly in the Arri n Red world …would be interested in what you think is coming in 2024 for video support from black magic, Teradek, fsi, LUT boxes, capture n playback, and oled onset grading monitors and maybe some of the off brand monitors trying to make a name for themselves.

    I was the Provision (rental house) Christmas knees up in Leeds, earlier this week. They had lots of new equipment on show. The most eye-catching was a camera / gimbal hybrid from DJI. I didn't catch the specs, I'm afraid, but had a play with it and I must admit I really liked it. Depending on the price and specs, I suspect it could really take off.

    4:50 I think the A9iii sensor is ideal for FX9II which is positioned as a run-and-gun documentary camera and to compete with RED Komodo/X. In contrast, the CineAlta line is targeted for image quality.

    An Ursa mini with an L-mount, that’s a very major redesign of the chassis. Given BM’s conservative approach to camera design and their orientation to broadcast, what would drive them to do that? Not to mention the need to completely rework the mechanical ND system. I tend to think that’s the least likely thing to happen. Maybe a full frame Ursa with PL mount? If they put out an l-mount body with SDI and other pro features, that would be the box design everyone is shouting to have. If I were at BM, that’s what I would do.

  • @OBP_

    @OBP_

    Some great points, my thinking comes from the R&D costs for BM to make their own 12K sensors, and the numbers the 12K URSA has sold in, just has me thinking the sensor is going to be in a few more designs in the years to come.

  • @waveland

    @waveland

    @@OBP_ But redesigning the Ursa, and retooling the manufacturing, and designing a layered mount system similar to the Venice and Burano (PL over E) will be enormously expensive, with very little pay off. I for one may never own l-mount glass. I want the sturdy lock of PL-mount and purchase accordingly. However, l-mount does open the door to building a compact box-ish design (not quite sure how they would handle the screen). Put the 12k sensor in that housing behind an l-mount and you would have a best seller. Where an l-mount Ursa would make me shrug. Just a guess on my part, but fairly plausible I think.

  • @ContraGrain

    @ContraGrain

    I mean, they joined the L-Mount Alliance so it’s more a question of when not if. Assuming all future BM bodies are L mount which I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be, it makes perfect senseZ

  • @waveland

    @waveland

    6 ай бұрын

    @@ContraGrain If they keep building the Ursa then they need to keep supporting PL as a primary mount option, and not as an adapter. I will put up with adapters on the BMCC, but I need a more robust mount for bigger cameras. So maybe one of these days they cook up a mount like you find on the Venice and Burano cameras such that PL bolts on top and then you have the option of removing the PL to reveal an L-mount underneath. But between that constraint, and reengineering the ND system for the short flange distance, the Ursa will be very costly to retool. Even if they roll out a full frame version of the Ursa sometime soon, I don’t see them modifying the body for at least a couple more years. I think it’s more likely they will try to build an l-mount camera somewhere between the CC and the Ursa. Customers have been crying for a “box” camera forever. L-mount is the perfect excuse to give people what they say they want. Pure speculation on my part, but from a product development perspective, it would be an easier way for BM to ease their way into the l-mount design world, and then use what they learn there to finally catch up with a modified Ursa. BM is a fairly methodical company and one that supports broadcast standards even more than they do cine. They won’t be in a hurry to rework Ursa because of their installed base.

    For me, S1HII if it has 1) good rolling shutter, 2) good AF, 3) NDs, 4) XLR, 5) waveform scope, 6) record to USB SSD, 7) superb DR and latitude, 8) excellent low light, 9) excellent IBIS, 10) of course great codec options, 11) excellent battery life, 12) open gate In its expected price range it would be only camera with all those features. Maybe they figured out how to have IBIS and NDs. They patented something recently regarding ND. Only other camera with nearly all those features under $5500 is Canon C70.

    Which sensor you'd think the speculated S1x will feature if it is not the Leica 60MP? They'd have to do some very impressive software magic to make this slow Leica sensor to be any good for video. The rolling shutter is insanely bad on this sensor.

  • @JeffBourke

    I'm so curious to see BMD's upcoming announcements and their strategic moves. They might phase out ProRes in their advanced cinema cameras, focusing instead on their technologies. My reasoning: 1. Avoiding Apple's licensing fees for ProRes could be a cost-saving measure. 2. More importantly, BRAW provides better control and adaptability. Tim Siddons from BMD indicated ProRes limits their sensor and codec potential, as seen with their Full Frame 6K. This is the same response regarding ProRes missing from the URSA 12K Pro cameras. BRAW allows for more innovation and sensor optimization. BMD is creating a cohesive ecosystem, combining software, sensors, codecs, and cloud services. Once fully established, this could lead to more groundbreaking cameras integrated into their system.

    thanks a lot. My personnal feeling is something like that : I need to keep away XAVC-blablabla, keep far away from sony stuff, especially with global sensor. Just to be honest : i think it's just about japanese cultur pictures, very flat and very neutral, keep many western filmaker at distance from sony. Sony is the full-master technically, since many years. But it's purely a cultural-question, about : what is light, what is capturing light, not on flash memmory, but in human memmory. Don"t car about technical spec, they print nothing on our memmory.

    Chi compra la Ursa lo fa per fare cinema di alta fascia. Il cinema è "super 35mm", no full frame. L'unica miglioria di cui necessita la Ursa è di natura hardware: passare alle schede CFexpress Type B che sarebbero perfette per utilizzare gli 8k e soprattutto i 12k senza dover aggiungere il fardello del registratore. Speriamo ...

    100% you're not going to see apple iPhones on professional sets never. It won't be on the Netflix approved camera list. IPhone isn't matching thr dynamic range of a Ursa mini pro 12k olpf. IPhone is good for social media positing, but nothing beyond that. You approach a client with an Iphone, you're not getting the job.
