I'm not trying to take anything away from Ria, but she must have an excellent teacher(s) coaching her. But it's one thing to have someone coach you, and another to play as she does. She is one in a billion for sure.

How does an 8 year old interpret music with such emotion. Class.

Ria Kang is what is called a musical prodigy: gorgeous intonation, really perfect to my ear (no?) and with emotional connection with the music. You are a maestro in the making, dear Ria, with a gift from God to share with the world across what I hope will be a long life in Music! Thank you for putting the work in that makes it all possible! The violin is a hard instrument on which to get started. This little lady already sounds professional at such a young age. Her playing was not only accurate but very sensitive and musical. Ria, I wish you a long and happy life and much joy from your instrument. Remember to forgive yourself when you are just slightly less than perfect.

Ria Kang's performance is simply breathtaking! Her maturity on stage is beyond her years, bringing an almost magical touch to her music. The way she combines flawless technique with deep emotional expression sets her apart from her peers. Watching Ria play is more than just a musical experience; it's a profound communication of every note. She's not just a talent; she's a once-in-a-generation artist in the classical music world. Absolutely mesmerizing!

I just listened to a playlist of the top professional adult violinists playing Kreisler’s prelude and could not find one that is even close to the quality of Ria’s interpretation. It is complex, incredibly nuanced, each note consciously tailored and each phrase beautifully crafted and expertly performed. Ria’s performance communicates in every note. It is by far the most mature interpretation I have heard. Calling her a ‘young’ musician is condescending, implying she has much to learn. We should listen more closely because in the way she plays this prelude she is schooling the best of us.

I concur! Her restraint with vibrato does not distract from the music as many others do. I'm not sure how much is due to her teacher but Ria has certainly mastered this piece.

Ria's sound and musical is way beyond her age and years of a mature musician. Incredible talent!

These youngsters just blow you away. This little girl is certainly going places. I have never heard a child play this work with such professional musicianship as this. Well done my dear.

No Bills No Adult worries No 9-5 Employment Playing for 8hrs a day..one has to love music ..Once she becomes an adult, sadly no longer appreciated in the same way...but her playing is impressive

The beautiful phrasing, the musicianship is well beyond her years!!

Lovely rich sound, it shows how great her bowing technique is - bearing in mind this is a small instrument. Imagine what it would sound like when she moves up to a full size violin.

You didn't lose your concentration during the whole performance. I strongly agree your talent to be a professional musician! Big big applaud 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

How does this beautiful little soul remember each and every note .......and so perfectly interpreted. Wow !

Not only does she have incredible sophistication and musicality, but how on earth is she getting such a rich sound from a 1/4 size violin?!!

You see it in your mind, just like it is on the page. For me it was always a question of just reading through it without actually playing it. Like you were reading a poem. Each phrase leads into the next phrase so you remember the phrases and it flows from one to another. But I could see it just as if it were there.

It's easy to memorize, the hard part is making the music and playing the interpretations that we have in our head out loud on our violin perfectly as we like it.

⁠@@eliseives9574 expression is the way how you feel the music with your own possibilities and feelings . Its what makes you to an artist instead of a musician if you know the difference.

@@eliseives9574 Playing the correct pitches for the written durations would sound mechanical. The composer adds suggested phrasing to group the notes into musical 'sentences', and may add dynamics, instructions about how loud to play at different places in the work. There may also be other markings to indicate that notes should be played with the bow (arco) or plucked (pizzicato), should the notes be smoothly connected or separated with small breaks, should the bowing be gentle or aggressive. The composer and/or player may decide to slow down at the end of a section and then resume the tempo. There is the amount of vibrato applied to a note. These and many other articulations have varying degrees that may be applied and when the performer employs them tastefully and logically to improve the performance, we can say that the player is 'expressive'.

How is this even possible? Wonderfully soulful especially for an 8-year-old.

The emotional depth expressed in this playing is unbelievable . I listened to several versions of this including fellow children , what they had in the technical department failed to manifest in the form of emotion like Ria’s . Simply breathtaking rendition .

I think this is a half-size violin. She is doing so much more than just playing notes here. Her musical expression and emotion are incredible. I also have to say that so often, the piano almost drowns out the violin. In this case, they are perfectly balanced.

Unfortunately, a few good, or even exceptional, people won't suffice to save this world. Anyways, Ria Kang proves to be a (little) genius. Her performance is a good as the best ones of the greatest violinists at a mature age.

@@fortissimoX Anyone at her level definitely loves what they do but that doesn't mean that constant practice isn't work. An extreme example would be an athlete competing for a world title. You can love something and still have to work hard at it.
