Just received my X6 M60i with Dynamic Handling Package - incredible difference from my 2021 X5 M50i with air suspension. The X6 has little to no body roll in all modes and handles like a true sports car while being very comfortable. You get the best of all worlds with this suspension. The DHP should be standard on all M60i models in my opinion. If you enjoy "sporty" driving, do not get a X5 or 6 without it, best $2,200 you'll spend.

Great review. Your description is spot on. IDrive controls, the good news is there will be an update for iDrive over the air, this will be a .5 update. Brings single touch fan speed :-) The sound thing so right as we buy a v8 for sound. Your exact description. Pity BMW don't option a sport exhaust option that allows you to select to hear the engine. 100000% this is twin turbo with twin scrolls. Most V8 use one turbo for left bank of cylinders. One turbo for right bank of cylinders. This causes turbo lag the delay when you floor the accelerator pedal. This X5M60i with the S68 Uses a cross bank manifold. One turbo gets power from two cylinders from both sides. Not just one side. This increases response and reductions in turbo lag.

From BMW media release documents below New V8 for the two BMW M models. The range-topping BMW X5 M60i xDrive and BMW X6 M60i xDrive models are both powered by a newly developed V8 petrol engine. The 4.4-litre power unit can trace its genes back to engines used in renowned BMW M and racing machines and utilises the thermodynamic benefits of a cross-bank exhaust manifold, bank-symmetrical turbochargers and external engine oil cooling. In addition, a reinforced crankshaft drive, further developed turbocharging with a blow-off valve, a new oil pump and a weight-minimised oil sump all play their part in increasing the engine’s efficiency. The engine teams up with the 48V mild hybrid technology to also produce noticeably superior response and power delivery under acceleration. The drive system in the duo of BMW M models generates maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp and peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). It propels the new BMW X5 M60i xDrive and new BMW X6 M60i xDrive from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. Here, the vivacious power development of the V8 engine is accompanied by an emotionally rich soundtrack from the standard-fitted M Sport exhaust system

Love my M4 Comp, and the X5--any flavor, is the best luxury SUV in its price range--and beyond. Funny thing about the M4...just detailed the rear seats and Merino leather. Sitting in the back you really feel the luxury of the car. Driver's seat, of course, the performance. Mine is a '21, RWD. Next will have Xdrive, but the true 550+ hp the car puts out--BMW's 503 hp is a joke, is plenty for me now. I flew fighters in my younger day, so love speed. I have the '21 M50i Tanzanite blue which I love. I was going to keep it as long as possible but I just got in a crash and it's going to be totaled. I have to buy a new one (it saved my life, btw and emergency response was immediate and excellent). I really like the X5 and I'm spoiled by this M50i and its amazing performance. (had a F15 2014 sDrive before, also an excellent car). I'm disappointed that they got rid of the buttons/manual controls though. Very bad idea; it promotes distracted driving big time. My '21 has AI smart assistant, (as do many other cars) and these new car manufacturers want you to talk to the car to control the AC etc. Well, it doesn't work well at all, very unreliable. i.e. "Hey BMW decrease the rear seat AC to 65 degrees, car, 'Ok, navigating to Dairy Queen in St. Augustine'". iDrive 8.5 is supposed to be an improvement in the UI though. I'll miss my crystal shift knob. What's up with that tiny little toggle thing in the new BMWs? They also did away with the active grill. That was really cool.

I don't think the M60i is as loud and it'll be disappointing. I prefer the older sound. I'm going to miss it. Minimal roll in comfort, didn't notice any in sport or sport plus. It handles amazingly for a high profile vehicle. Eco Pro, what's that? lol. never used it. Ordered the Active M Suspension Pro package on the new one. Looking forward to having it.

But then, I'd just go with the straight six to begin with if all you're doing is carting around kids and groceries. It's the advancement in suspension where Porsche typically shines. Thus in any sort of spirited driving, the Cayenne will always reward more. And if you're purchasing, the residuals will also be better with a Cayenne.

I would agree, Cayenne better handling and looks better too, but so expensive $$$$ This X5M60i is Macan GTS price and that's is tiny inside and not a V8. So this price-point X5 every single day. No comparison at all.

Cayenne is more expensive but it’s so much better than anything BMW offers from top to bottom in the SUV department.

BMW is superior in every way. The Cayenne looks like a frog. It's downright fugly.
