    Anyone interested in a class B rent before you buy. My wife got caught up in the "gotta have a B" on KZread. The quality brands (hint hint) are ok for 1 or 2 people for day trips or long weekends but beyond that your limited. Theres very little room for any additional gear storage which for us was the deal breaker. We rented a Travato from a private renter for 1 week and she realized within a few days that it was too small and very uncomfortable overall.

As a company we also really focus on trying to listen to how our customers are going to use an RV and make recommendations from what previous customers have found works best. Our van doesn't have an awning attached to the side. My wife saw a video a couple years ago that featured an awning that wraps around the van 270º. It's called a batwing. It takes under 5 minutes to set up and take down. My wife has to use a short step ladder due to the high roof, and I use an upside down 5 gallon bucket. That's the only negative, but the ladder and bucket come in handy for a lot of things, so having them is great. Open back doors are fully covered and the side sliding door is 3/4 covered.

    A few years ago I almost bought the Travato 59GL (no generator, all lithium batteries) even though I much prefer sliding windows (MUCH stealthier) and a cassette toilet (you can empty them anywhere), but the final blow was when I looked under the van. The battery system was 5" from the ground, I figured that a rock could take out my $20,000 batteries way to easily.

    I'm answering this question multiple times. There are many mods but the most popular one is getting a short hose with a 90 degree elbow. Then the end can be installed outside the closed doors. They put the fresh water tank inside to make it more of a 4 season type van for winter use.

    This unit costs more than my 40' 4slide than my Monaco coach. There is no comparison to how little you get for the money in a van. The sticker on my coach when new $236,000, bill of sale shows sales price was $177,000 included washer/dryer, two heat pumps, 8KW On an diesel genset. Maybe someday these vans will sell for what they're worth.

  • @MillersRV

    @MillersRV

    2 ай бұрын

    While I do understand what you are saying. Compare that $236,000 to the sticker price on a comparable class A today... Big difference. There are a lot of factors that go in to the pricing of B vans. You have to have similar technology to the big motorhomes, but make it much smaller. The tanks are also smaller so you have to have more efficient appliances. Chassis upgrades/increase in prices also play a huge role in the prices of b vans. And of course the demand does factor in to the price some as well. Just to name a few factors. Thanks for the feedback.

That being said, there are definite differences but both are on the same chassis so same drive/handling. The Travato has way more features, is available with full electric lithium package or generator and certainly costs more. The Solis gives a price point we haven't seen in a while and is also available in an even more scaled down unit without a shower. Floorplans are different and often that is the most important thing to a customer. Hope this helps a little.

    Yes. You would need some special equipment - heated water hose for example. I would also consider air skirts if you are going to be stationary. For heat I would consider 2 things. First would be the addition of an electric fan with a heater if you are staying at campgrounds. This would cut down on the LP gas usage. The second would be to add an "extend a stay" which allows you to hook up an exterior LP tank to give you increased capacity for your heater and other LP appliances.

    @@Hard_Car_Life You can put together a much less expensive version of this. Just like most any product, there are going to be flashier versions but a less expensive version can get you most of the way there. I have a van that I camp in that is 1/4 - 1/3 the cost of this. Can still live the good life without being so called rich.

    It's got a fairly deceiving name for something that's over twice that price. I guess it's smart marketing by Winnebago, but it's underhanded and sneaky and not something I would've expected from them in the past.

  • @MillersRV

    @MillersRV

    It is strictly a model and floorplan number - 59 is the model, K, KL, G and GL are the 2 different floorpans with or without Lithium system. It is like a Lexus 350RX or a BMW 3 series - just designating what unit it is. I don't think it ever occurred to Winnebago that people would mistake the model number for a price. The first time someone asked me if it was $59,000 I was really confused where they had gotten that number.

    It is the only way they offer the Ram chassis but not only has it been a great vehicle, it also allows for a lower overall unit height because you don't have to account for the height of a drive shaft under the living area. They drive great too. It's not definitely not designed for off road use, but most of our customers aren't indenting to use a b-van that way. For those that need that capability, we have several Mercedes or Ford Transit options.
