As proud owner of the first Gen, it’s alarming that Toyota is not covering warranty claims for people who take their cars to the race track. They are not standing by how they are advertised.

Toyota, how could you sell your GR products with a free track day and 12 month NASA membership and when someone makes a warranty claim during that period, you don’t honor it? You advertise your GR cars on the track, heck you even have a color named Track bRed and yet you won’t honor warranty claims when someone autocrosses it with the membership YOU provided. I have an allocation for a GR Corolla that I’m seriously considering rescinding. Is this really how Morizo-san’s company treats customers behind the scenes? What a disappointment. For those who want to see the post involving this issue, I can’t link in this comment section but search for “Toyota GR86 engine warranty claim denied because of autocross usage”.

Thanks for the information! I was so hyped to get a new GR86 but with the warranty being SUS I'd rather wait for an official statement and not some PR statement. Bummer that Toyota is literally going against the whole point of the GR86. I mean if I wanted a new sports car not for drifting, I would get literally anything else. I went down the rabbit hole to see how big of an issue engine failures caused by RTV sealant getting sucked into the oil strainer is, and it is common sadly.

As someone who overlooked the gt86 for its styling, I absolutely love the new one. The only gripe I have is that I really wish they would've added a double wish bone / multi link ifs rather than the McPherson. The rear already has the multi link / double wish bone, I know they had to keep cost down for a sporty yet very affordable sports car ; also considering the flat 4 they used is not a narrow engine by any means so space is a challenge to say the least. But it could be just that much better for us tuners and builders

Getting mine this week 👌
I've had mine for 8 months now. I really like it. Pretty quick, could still use more power. 275 hp would bring this car right where it needs to be to match how it looks. The interior plastics are not really that good scratching up too easily. Road noise is a bit much. A better sounding stock exhaust should be considered. The fake engine noise, do without it, so I disconnected it, added a nice aftermarket , it sounds good. The shark fin on the roof takes away from the lines and styling. Overall a nice sports car, however Toyota left some things on the table. HP, and better quality cabin materials.
