2023 Suzuki GSX-8S - First Test Ride - *I'M SHOCKED*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I test ride the Suzuki GSX-8S! A brand new naked motorcycle for 2023. With its 83 horsepower engine and 78nm of torque, it accelerates impressively, even on the highway. The seating position is comfortable, and the bike's design makes it look like a baby GSX-1000S!

    i test rode the 8r and it blew me away how nice the bike was. Smoothest bike ive ever rode, (i havent got to try out a triumph yet, so that is to be determined), and the torque was fantastic and down low and immediate. It was so satisfying. My wife rode the 8s and now she wants it, and she is more of a cruiser bike rider, so in conclusion: Great Job Suzuki! except for not giving it cruise control, i mean come on man its 2024

    Cruise control, it won’t cost much to do but they want you to go up a level and spend more money on the GSXS1000GT. I have cruise control on my ninja 1000sx and I rarely use it. Great for long distance over 2 hours on a motorway, otherwise it takes away much of the enjoyment of ripping the throttle. Each to their own. Smooth, well I find the vibration in the pegs at 6 to 7k revs. The rest is perfect. I can’t fault it otherwise.

    Even though it’s expensive compared to the Hornet, personally I think it looks way better. I’d replace the rubber brake lines with braided ones. It’s unfortunate the bike doesn’t come standard with LED indicators & a USB port. Not a deal breaker though. Can’t wait for mine👌

    How do you think it compares to your Aprilia 660 in terms of fun factor? The tuono 660 is a bike I keep benchmarking everything off of. It just seems to check a lot of boxes except perhaps reliability Edit: BTW very helpful review thank you

    Super bike. I tested the 8S on the racetrack and gocart track in Våler. It was stabile and so easy to drive. On the gokart track it was awsome in and out of corners, the engine pulls all the way. On the racetrack it was also fast up to 200 km/h, and the suspension was not to soft. 82 hp? That engine is much more than topend power.

    The bones are there. That's half the battle. You can upgrade with fork cartridges, a better rear shock, you can swap brake pads, rubber lines for stainless lines, even go so far as installing a radial-pump MS on the bars. Suspension and brake bones are there, they just need tuned. Everything at a cost. 270° parallel twins are easily changed to a full exhaust (when the aftermarket provides it), which turn that kitty-cat into a roaring lion. MT-07 is the test case for that (sound-wise).

    @@Doyle-nu5el People often frame an accusation in a question. That's why I wanted to clarify. There's a lot of great reasons why people want to modify factory bikes. I've owned a dozen bikes myself, one at a time. I've ridden well over 60 various bikes from all genres on demo rides. My career is mechanical engineering. So from these perspectives and experience, I prefer to remove regulation equipment which stops factory bikes from being what I like, which is a good sound, better suspension, better functioning brakes, better tires, and so on. The thing you cannot change is the basic character of an engine. If you like an engine a lot, you would buy the bike in spite of other shortcomings which can be changed over time as money allows. I've had 70 horsepower bikes and 150 horsepower bikes. I've also tried a Hayabusa and superbike on a demo. I'm not unfamiliar with a lot of horsepower but that's not my main thing. I don't need crazy power. I prefer other sensations on a bike too, other than sheer acceleration.

    I'll bet that thing, judging by the specs, feels just like my old GSX 750ES (1980's) to ride. It's a little bit taller to sit on (BOOOOOOOO!) and a little bit lighter, but it's got a little bit less power than the 750 (3hp). It's also got 2 17" wheels whereas the 750 had a 16"front and a 17" rear. I think on that judgement I'd rather have a brand new GSX 750ES! After all the bikini fairing was absolutely fantastic. No screen on this one. And it's got 'batwings' on the side (????!!!???). Mind you, does sound nice. After 40 years of motorcycle 'development' is this really progress? Hmmmmmm....

  • @MrDrakenhoff

    @MrDrakenhoff

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you! It’s been a while since I’ve ridden an MT-09, but if my memory serves me right, the 09 definitely feels like it has more torque, across all ranges. To bring ip an example I could easily power-wheelie the mt09 in 2nd gear. The gsx-8s did not do this as easy.

  • @sugarandt

    @sugarandt

    Жыл бұрын

    Since you are basing your reply on the ability to wheelie You must not realize that the 09 has a shorter wheelbase, lighter weight, and possibly a softer shock. Making weight transfer come into play more. BTW: You kept on calling it “a little bike”, a real turn off for me. I don’t understand all these reviewers that act like a modern middleweight is a beginner bike. Wether you realize it or not, it’s derogatory, and makes it sound like the bike is so far below your skill level. Aside from the “little bike” thing, I enjoyed your review, but would have liked to see you hit some twisties in anger on it.

  • @MrDrakenhoff

    @@sugarandt Hmm a lot of good input, thank you! Now when it comes to the MT09 I'm refering to the feeling of it, and I standy by that the MT09 feels more torqy and playful engine-wise. What you say about the wheelbase and whatnot mey very much be what I'm feeling, so thanks for clearing that up! I didn't know that calling it a "little bike" could have that effect, but I totally understand it! I'll try to rephrase it in future videos. What I really mean is that I enjoy the bikes easy-handeling, making it a great option for riding in the city and not just on backcountry roads. I do not enjoy heavy bikes like a 1000cc supersport if it makes me nervous when i'm going slow. But I really appreciate your input, and will try to improve! :)

    I like them a lot. I just don't like the suspension. 1 size fits all suzuki was going for. No adjustment in the forks. Don't know about the rear. Kind of dumb if you ask me. Adjustability would've been nice. I am a suzuki fan and if I wanted a back road ripper, I would probably choose this. Although I would be dropping a couple hundred cc's and 2 cylinders.
