Great video! Thanks for sharing your excitement for your new 8S. I have its uglier sibling, the V-Strom 800DE. I also fell in love with the quick-shifter, the first bike I've had with it. It shifts smoother the more miles/km you put on it. *BEEP BEEP* haha

Nice vid, thanks for sharing. I've had the 8S now for 9 months and just clocked 6000 trouble free miles. That torque never gets boring I can tell you :) I did switch out the OEM Dunlops in favour of Michelin Road 5's though which has improved the ride comfort and grip immensely. I actually did almost buy the Hornet last year and hadn't considered the Suz at all. Anyway, curiosity got the better of me and after a test ride the rest is history :) Enjoy the 8S and look forward to your next review. Cheers.

I had Dunlop D404s on the old Rebel, and I always quite liked those tires. But I did notice that a lot of reviews of the Suzuki GSX 8S say that the Dunlops that come with it aren't very good. I'll ride on them for a while and see how they feel, but you're not the first to suggest an upgrade to Michelins. Thanks for watching! And congrats on the 8S! I also considered the Hornet, but it didn't impress me nearly as much as this Suzuki.

I like your video. Such a good looking bike too. Quick shifter seems to get even smoother with a 1500+ miles on it. On mine the seat does feel quite hard especially after an hours ride, so I will also be looking at after market seats. Lots of after market accessories available as well. I think you have a good bike there.

Definitely let me know if you find a good aftermarket seat replacement. I haven't found much so far, and unfortunately Corbin doesn't make one for this bike yet :(

Love the 8S and amongst cruisers the Rebel series are my favorite. Id say its great choice 👍 Also I call it Gixssus. Dont even bother with the 8

gsx8s is the best i could have bought. Especially with the A2 license firstly limited to 48 hp its not too fast or snappy for a beginner. I have it 4 months now, got the arrow exhaust system and bar end mirrors and it looks sick, rides sporty enough when you need it to but also handles well on long rides. Real good value for your money.

Did the lower the power of the 8s over there? Stock they make 78hp or something like that. I wonder what they did to limit it, and can you get it back when you get the final license? So many questions lol.

@@rm25088 no you can get bigger bikes then you are allowed to ride with the a2 license but they will be limited to 48hp fpr 2 years or until you are 24. after that you do th full A license and then you can unlock the bike. it has 83 hp when its unrestricted

@@dermuschelschluerfer oh alright. That is smart, new riders should not be able to get on a Hayabusa or m1000r with 200+HP. When you unlock it, it will be like a whole new bike. Can you still modify it when it is restricted?

Yeah, I was not prepared for the instant torque that this bike offers, compared to the sluggish old Honda. Welcome back to motorcycling, and ride safe!

And it was a trip watching you shift without clutching! Not sure I could get used to not having the interplay between my right and left hands doing the clutch/throttle see-saw, but looks really sweet and efficient! And yep, that break-in period is no fun, but the moderation is worth the long-term engine benefit). This was a kick, man...cheers :)

Yeah, I was worried I wasn't going to like that quick shifter, but I have to admit, it lives up to its name. The bike can shift a lot quicker than I can! This is my first Suzuki, but so far, so good... all I need now is some warmer weather so I can get out there properly! 😀

@@LernenundFahren Awesome, man! It looked like a kick. And I know too well the feeling of "This person isn't backing into me, right?" haha. ;) My DRZ400 (the supermoto) was running strong six years till I sold it, never a problem. Shiny side up. :)

the bike feels light because they put most of the weight down low. good choice by suzuki because it's heavier than similar nakeds like the duke 790. good to hear that the quickshifter is smooth. some say it's a bit rough at first but it smoothens out over time after some use. btw watch out if you're in calgary, there's reports of a guy on a blue motorcycle honking aggressively at people. even elderly women at crosswalks get honked at and the maniac laughs after doing it 😧

LOL, I swear I'm not honking on purpose! 😀 As for the quickshifter, I find that if I roll off throttle before shifting up, it feels a bit jerky. The trick is to stay on the throttle when you use the quickshifter, which might not be intuitive for most riders (certainly wasn't for me). My guess is that's why some people are complaining about the quickshifter feeling a bit rough - you have to hold the throttle open when you hit that shifter peg. I find it surprisingly smooth.

@@LernenundFahren could be the case that people aren't shifting correctly yeah. i'll keep it in mind when i get it. can't wait. looks like such a fun bike with that torque. especially the low end torque looks great for city commuting.

I really like this bike. The 8R looks good too. Hope you are enjoying it, even in Mode A now. 👍🏍

I've been in mode A for a while now. This bike is an absolute beast. 😃 I'll be doing an in-depth review at the end of the season. Yeah, the 8R is also a great bike. Same engine as the 8S but a slightly modified suspension and handlebar position. And of course the side fairings. Both fantastic looking bikes in my opinion. 👍

Not crazy at all. A pretty smart move in my opinion. The rebel 1100 might be alright but I hate the automatic trans thing they got going on. Suzuki's have always treated me well, and I will keep owning them. The 8s/r look amazing, minus the non adjustable suspension. I honk the horn accidently all the time on my 1000s and TLR. I feel like an idiot.

I actually strongly considered the Rebel 1100, but I decided to go with something more different from my last bike. Man, am I ever glad I did, because this Suzuki is amazing. The horn took a couple of rides to get used to, but I haven't hit it accidentally in quite a while now 😃

@@LernenundFahren It looks like a great bike. I really want one. I think I would get the naked version like you. But I already have 2 bikes. My 2023 GSX S1000 has been in the shop for over a month. Getting sick of waiting. Should just trade for an 8s. Bike is worth what the 8s costs new.

Nice video! I'm trading my 23 honda cb500f (your rebel's bikes naked cousin) in for 8s as well! A dealer near me has the grey 2024 and I'm obsessed with it! Gotta ask, what helmet do you have, it's sick!

Thanks! And congrats on the trade-in! The helmet in this video is an Icon Airflite which I had for a couple of years. Looks really great, but unfortunately has a lot of wind noise at highway speeds. I recently upgraded to a Shoei RF-SR, which you can see in my newer videos. Not quite as good-looking, but MUCH quieter and more comfortable.

So far I love it. I'm just on the tail end of the engine breakin period now, so I can really start to rev it up and have fun with it. I'm planning on doing a followup video at the end of this season with a full review.

So with the throttle modes....why isnt this being heralded as an awesome beginner bike? Seems to me that C is like a 500.

You know, I've thought about that, but even in throttle mode C, I'd say this bike probably has a bit too much torque for an absolute beginner. Also, I wouldn't suggest a beginner to start out on a bike with a quickshifter, because it might build up a very bad habit of shifting without the clutch, and that might be very bad if they later switch to a bike without a quickshifter! 😅 Better to learn the other way around, in my opinion.

All 3 modes have the same power. Only the throttle response changes. C mode is like a rain mode. A mode is kinda twitchy.I've had my 8S since Christmas and I love it
